Donald Trump's 2016 General Election Campaign

Talk about a punk skateboard…

Saying that a judge couldn’t do his job because of his ethnicity is racist. Retweeting and repeating the racist lies of white supremacists is racist. Questioning the president’s birthplace with no evidence whatsoever (and a mountain of evidence against) is both colossally stupid and racist.

He’s said many times that he judges women by their appearance – that’s misogynistic. Saying that women who get abortions should be punished is misogynistic. Attacking his rivals and their wives based on their appearance is misogynistic.

Hillary lies much less often than Trump, and would be a much lesser security threat than Trump. As to the deaths, that’s whacko conspiracy land stuff. I take it you also believe that Obama was born in another country, and the moon landings were faked?

Don’t forget the Fish Babies

If Trump barely manages to nose ahead on that one Tuesday in November he will lose the election. People are voting right now and something like 35% of votes will be cast before election day.

Huffington Post* has a collection of racist crap from The Donald. Or maybe xenophobic. Or both. (Warning–sound!)

Do you mean “misogynist”? The Telegraph has an excellent collection of anti-woman quotations from the Tiny Handed One.

“all the deaths”? I don’t think “incontrovertible” means what you think it means.

OK. I won’t provide links to the crackbrained sites that push The Rockefeller/Rothschild Conspiracies. Aliens? Really?

And what kind of un-American traitor wants to abolish the government?

I’m sure those parents know to nod in agreement & move away. Slowly.

Sincere sympathy to your daughter…

Oh yeah, early voters like older voters, voters who travel abroad, and the military – Clinton’s doing really well with these demographics.

You might be snickering this time next week…or you might not.

What exactly is an incontrovertible coincidence? A coincidence that cannot be denied or disputed?

US Intel is investigating meetings between Trump friend/associate/campaign staffer Carter Page and the Russian responsible for collecting intel about US elections.

At this point, Trump could be videotaped handing over a suitcase full of cash to a KGB operative and it wouldn’t matter.

What you miss is the huuuge big Duh! That was implied already, and many times before, sure Trump can win, and that is why I said I was cautiously optimistic, we shoud we working to prevent Trump from winning no?

But besides that, the reality has been that in virtually all serious aggreagates of polls the time Trump has been ahead of Clinton was never; just, sometimes, a virtual tie.

A way to bluff with absolutely nothing but a few half-heard catchphrases.

A way to make it seem like a lack of evidence is proof of wrongdoing.

A way to attempt to draw people into something which turns out to be a maze that goes in circles and leads nowhere.

A way to spin a conspiracy theory, just like the conspiracy theories around Sandy Hook, Boston, Aurora, the World Trade Center, and just about everything else. The patter changes, but not the underlying scam.

When Cruz said he wasn’t going to endorse Trump back after the debates, didn’t Trump say he wouldn’t take Cruz’s endorsement?

I didn’t miss anything. You and other lefty supporters of Hillary Clinton have assumed all along that Hillary Clinton is the superior candidate, that Donald Trump is a defective candidate, and that the general public is going to make the rational chance. You’re very confident of that. Most left wing posters on SDMB who follow 538’s nowcast have been confident of this. You really don’t think it can happen. I’ve had this discussion with a few other posters here who were laughing at me in August but it’s funny because they don’t challenge me anymore and in some cases they don’t post here anymore.

I think it’s more likely than you realize.

I’m sure there must be a good explanation for that! Uh…

Not quite, and I can detect a lot of wishful support for Trump in a lot of your posts, like this one.

The point for me is that indeed Trump is a joke, Clinton is the superior candidate, but no, I did not expect that the general public was going to make a rational choice. A lot will choose wrong, but enough are likely to make the right choice.

I base that cautious optimism I have on what the polls are telling us for ages already. (And here I do think you should look up what “cautious” means, it is not really confidence)

And I laugh not because I was so confident but because I’m more of a realist and while I hopped for this to be better, I knew that the press and the partisanship from the Republicans was bound to make this a close race. Just like in 2012.

And by now it should be clear that you are still clueless about me, I still think Trump has a chance, just not as high at the levels you are going for. And I have to notice that you did not comment about making an effort to prevent Trump from becoming president.

It’s for USA security. Yeah, that’s it. Trump is protecting us.

Nobody is a tremendous as protecting the US as Trump. That’s what I’ve been hearing. Nobody! Elect Trump and we’ll never have to worry about anything again. Not ISIS or Mexican rapists or unfair taxes!

The wall will be as yuge as his hands!

Make America hate again!

Early voting ain’t what it used to be. There are a lot more groups voting early in some states these days.

In 2012 more Democrats than Republicans voted early in Florida, Iowa, Nevada, North Carolina, and Ohio. More Republicans than Democrats voted early in Colorado. These are the only states that release this information.

Here is the percentage of the 2012 vote that came in early in some swing states…

Colorado 80.4%
Nevada 69.4%
North Carolina 61.0%
Florida 56.1%
Iowa 43.3%
Ohio 33.1%

That’s not just older voters, people who travel abroad, and the military.

One of the reasons Republicans are trying to limit early voting is because early voters tend to be Democrats.

We already know that Manafort was paid money by a Russian lackey and then the Trump campaign changed their stance to be more favorable to Russia. Something that I think is insane that it wasn’t more intensely reported on.

I can’t imagine this makes any difference.
