He recently said they should start calling themselves Nazis to claim the “N Word.” That’s who think Trump is funny, self identified Nazis.
It could be that Trump engages in a type of performance humor that the rest of us - supporters and opponents alike - just don’t get. Pictures speak louder than words.
Afa his nicknames go, I’d like to see a reporter call Rubio “Little Marco” at a presser just to see them expound about “respect”.
To be fair, despite Jesus being both man & god, we missed a big part of his adolescence to history.
One would hope (on the one hand) his godhead would keep him pure, but on the other (fully man) there must have been dick jokes after the Temple when he’s hanging with his teenage mates.
I think that he’s never really been able to laugh at himself; he has always thought that his shit doesn’t stink.
Most of the examples shared upthread – the Green Acres bit, the House of Wings SNL sketch – are from more than ten years ago (and more like twenty years ago) when he was (a) a lot younger, and (b) more willing to go along with bits in which he looked silly, but I am pretty sure that was only because he was desperate for visibility and relevance.
But, by the later years of The Apprentice – when he was now widely (if inaccurately) seen as a highly successful businessman – and then his political career, he wasn’t having any of that anymore. I agree, the 2011 Correspondents Dinner was a particular turning point. The only “sense of humor” of the Trump of the past ten years is in mocking others and punching down.
His costar from that Green Acres bit said he was weird and creepy then, too.
“So they had this dumb thing on the Emmys called ‘Emmy Idol,’” she explained. “And they asked people to sing various TV theme songs. Ordinarily I’d be like, ‘No.’ But they said we want you to do the Green Acres theme song with Donald Trump as the character of Karen Walker from Will & Grace, and I was like, ‘Yes.’”
Turns out, they ended up winning Emmy Idol, and Donald Trump even called her the next day to thank her for her help, and said they “really needed to win that.”
“And I’m thinking, ‘Okay, wait,’” she added. “‘If he needed to win Emmy Idol that bad what must it be like now?’”
