Donated to PP and ACLU

Gave money to Planned Parenthood and the ACLU this morning.

It felt good.

I used to give to PP, I still list them at Amazon for a share of what I buy. But there is no PP branch within 100 miles of me, so instead, I arranged with a local abortion provider to pay $500 a year for the full cost of an abortion needed by a person in my county who could not afford it. But now nearly all the abortion clinics in my state (Texas) have been closed.

Good for you. Seriously, that’s the best thing I’ve heard today.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for caring.

Yes. And thanks for the reminder, I’ve been ignoring the paper-mailed nudges.

The ACLU and NORML are the two organizations I support financially, but regret that it’s necessary.

My gf has always supported PP. They’ll be needing help even more for the next four years.

I gave $100 to Black Lives Matter yesterday. As a white woman I reckon it’s the least I can do.

I wish there were a like button. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

I was once a member of the ACLU - looks like it’s time to get back in touch…
In the meantime, I have taken to subscribing to the NY Times - good journalism is also under siege.

I hit the ACLU and PP this morning. I’m planning on taking most of our Christmas budget and redirecting it to the orgs I think are really gonna need help. Keep the ideas coming, please.

Yes- we subscribed to NYT too. We’re a family that may benefit under trump tax breaks. My husband already said he wants to take any extra money we get and add it to donations to these organizations.

I went on a donation spree today. I gave money to:

[ol]
[li]The ACLU[/li][li]Planned Parenthood[/li][li]The NAACP[/li][li]The National Immigration Law Center[/li][li]The Southern Poverty Law Center[/li][li]RAINN[/li][/ol]

I’m now a bit poorer, but I feel a lot richer.

Given what’s likely to happen, we should probably add groups that support marginalized communities like the mentally ill and LBGT youth… and maybe handicapped rights too. :sigh: I so wish Secty Clinton had won. She had plans.

Great idea. Are there any specific ones you know of?

So far:

PP
ACLU
SPLC
NAACP
National Immigration Law Center
RAINN
New York Times
Black Lives Matter
Local abortion providers
NORML

Probably should add Washington Post for investigative journalism

In addition to ACLU and PP, I’ve renewed my donation to the Human Rights Campaign and GLAAD.

The Trevor Project.

Thanks!

Sorry, I meant to mention this as well.

Love this list. I gotta sit down and pay bills this weekend. Gonna figure out what I can send to all of these, excepting maybe the NYT and Washington Post. Not because I don’t believe in the power of journalism, but because I want to make sure to hit the true charitable organizations first.

This is a great idea, something constructive we can do.
The ACLU published an open letter to Trump today:
