Doncha hate eBayers who back out of a sale?

I’m selling my Arriflex 35 BL-1. I was so excited when I bought it! The film was going well, we had a couple of other ideas for the next one, and we were on our way. Then the director skipped town. So the current film is dead. And I’m still paying on the camera.

These things go for about $15,000. I listed it on eBay for $9,000 since I’m in a hurry to sell it and I just want to pay off the credit card. Hundreds of views, over a score of watchers, emails from a few people. (One guy won’t be in a position to buy it for 2-3 months.) Only one bid. The guy is just across the border, so that will save on shipping.

Only his wife nixed the idea. I probably traded 20-30 emails with this guy, answering every question. Spent lots of time communicating with him. And he backs out! He offered to reemburse me for my expenses. (Final fees: $155.95.) We’ll see if he pays.

People should really check with their spousal units before bidding on things. :frowning:

You can get the auction fees refunded if the sale is canceled. I’ve done this several times for non-paying bidders.

That’s good to know, astro. I’ll see if he balks at the final fees. If he does, then I’ll try the process.
