Dondra In The Hospital: Stroke [Back at home now]

Glad they’re getting things under control, Quasi. My thoughts are with you both.

My thoughts are with you both - take care of yourself too Quasi

Good Morning!

Getting ready to go back to hospital, but a quick update

 1. During the night, she was moved to ICU, but only because she’s having the heart cath today. No other reason.

 2. Jason called to wake me up and reports she had a quiet night with minimal interruptions

 3. I have printed out all pages of well-wishes and will take them for her to read today

 4. The laptop is fried, so I can’t communicate from the hospital unless I can find a computer, but please don’t stop writing and/or ask questions. I’ll try to answer them asap.

 5. **Mama Z[/B and Typo Knig]. I have lost your phone numbers. They are stored here somewhere, but because everything happened so fast, I cannot think of where they are, sorry!

Thanks, everyone!

Bill

Just stumbled across this now. Best wishes you and Dondra both. Take care.

Quasi just sent me his contact information, and asked me to give it to any Doper who PMs me.

Hey Everyone

From the ICU…

I do have access to a computer here, although it is a bit slow due to dial-up.

Thanks Typo Knig for helping me out with the contact info.

I’ll be able to update from here since I’ll be spending the night tonight.

Thanks again!

Bill

Glad to hear things are not as bad as they seemed, though still not altogether well. Hang in there Bill, you know we’re with you.

We’re being moved again. This time to cardiac “step down” unit. Her cath has been moved to the ungodly hour of 11 pm, so that means we won’t know anything until after that, but I’ll try to post results here tonight after I speak with her cardiologist. She just had to drink something called mucomyst, which is to protect her kidneys during the procedure. We used to give that for severe congestion in an aerosol and it tastes and smells like rotten eggs. I thought she was gonna toss her lunch!

Preliminarily, the thoughts are she may have had a mild heart attack, but we won’t know for sure until after the cath. Her ECG IS abnormal, though.

Thanks for thinking of us/her and bye for now.

Bill

Quasi called us, around 7:30 or so (I don’t have my phone handy to check the time). D’s cath was completed successfully and results looked normal. Consult tomorrow with a neurologist, I believe. Then hopefully the knee can get looked at.

We actually spoke with them just before the procedure, they’d been waiting for hours! I think they were actually queued up to go in almost immediately after we spoke.

Good news! Thanks!

Dodged one bullet at least. Things could be worst. Keep on keepin’ on.

Just about ready for bed, so a quick and sweet update.

D’s cardio guy says all is well with the heart, so no heart attack. However she does still have the pulmonary hypertension they found last year.

We still need to pin down the cause of her multiple seizures, so I have asked the neuro guy to come by and consult with us again. We’re hoping the Dilantin will prevent these, but if we don’t know the etiology, how can we know for sure they won’t?

Also as Mama Z mentioned, there’s the knee issue. The hospitalist (not the ortho guy) keeps saying it’s degenerative bone disease. Okay we know that she has that chronically, but this time (Sunday morning) it was emergent and she can’t put any weight on that leg because of what happened, and I’m not letting her be discharged without a definitive diagnosis.

One of our friends has performed a birthday tune for Dondra’s birthday tomorrow and she says thanks and she can’t wait to hear/see it on YouTube. We’ll link y’all to it with his permission.

Thanks a million for your love and caring!

Bill and Dondra Craig

Bill, hang in there. It sounds like she’s getting good care. Glad the cardiac cath went well.

Tell her Happy Birthday!

Glad the Cath went well & hopefully you’ll get some answers about the knee & the seizures soon.

Happy Birthday, Dondra!! Sorry you have to spend it in the Hoosegow, but hopefully you’ll get sprung soon!

Love ya’ll!!

Best wishes to Dondra for a speedy recovery, and I hope you can get a diagnosis soon on her knee. I hope she has a happy birthday - sounds like she’s got a lot of loving family around her to help. Take care of yourselves!

… and although I am sorry she’s having to spend her birthday in the hospital, I am glad of this because there are still too many unanswered questions about what happened.

Her birthday party will be at the hospital today and we’ll be careful not to tire her out too much, I promise, but the highlight of the day will be the special YouTube performance of a beautifully played and sung tune by one of our Doper friends, which I will play at her at bedside. The YouTube link is unlisted, so I will leave it up to this wonderful guy about sharing it.

She will write her own note once she’s home and settled but for now, y’all know how I feel about you, so I won’t keep repeating myself. I’ll just say thank you for being such great friends.

Bill

Oh, come on. It’s you, innit? :stuck_out_tongue:

Happy Birthday do D. Sorry she has to spend it in the hospital. :frowning:

Happy Birthday, Dondra. Sorry you’re in the hospital for it, but it’s a relief that things aren’t as bad as they seemed at first. Hope everything gets straightened out soon. Also hope it’s a great party.

Thanks, Quasi, for keeping us updated. We’re rooting for both of you.

Birthday?
:::: grabs bag of confetti and starts tossing it around the room:::
Woot!
Happy birthday!

Birthday song is here

Wish it WERE me Johnny
