Dondra's Birthday Gift From Le Ministre de l'au-delà

Dondra and I are delighted to share this beautiful rendition of “A Nightingale Sang In Berkeley Square” with all our friends here. It is being performed by** Le Ministre de l’au-delà**, with the ably supportive Benji.

“It’s a wonderful gift and I will always treasure it!”, she said, heretofore having been used only to MY caterwauling of songs.

Thank you, Le Ministre de l’au-delà from the bottom of our hearts!

Absolutely beautiful!

Very nice. Happy Birthday D!

Really well done - I admire and envy your vocal control Le Ministre!

Happy Birthday, Dondra!

What a nice gift!

Happy Birthday, Dondra!

Jazz cats typically express their admiration of another musician’s performance via a simple (but heartfelt) “yeah!”…

Yeah, Le Ministre de l’au-delà!

That was just all kinds of wonderful. Thank you for sharing, and thank you, Ministre, for creating that.

If you like that one, please check out “Le Secret” and “Wanderer’s Nachtlied” (The Wanderer’s Night song). What a wonderful talent! Thanks for sharing this with all of us,** Le Ministre de l’au-delà**!

Think of a “Wanderer” as a “Journeyman” and many young people in Germany still carry on this tradition. I myself have met two young men in a pub in Germany. They come in, recite a poem and then ask for a gratis mug of beer. AFAIK, they re never turned down. They then regale the patrons there with tales of their travels.

They are not beggars. They do an honest day’s work for an honest day’s pay, AND they are respected.

If anyone (especially my German friends) have more to add or corrections, I would appreciate reading them, but Le Ministre de l’au-delà’s rendition of the “Night Song” evokes images of that night when I met these two young men.

Thanks

Quasi

Thanks for sharing, all!

I just wanted to say a quick ‘Thank you very much’ to all of you for your very kind words of encouragement; I’m flattered.

What a great voice. Quasi, tell Dondra I’m totally jealous.

That was very nice. Good job, Le Ministre, and Happy Birthday to Dondra!

LeMinistre:
The song you performed for me on my birthday was very beautiful and was such a lovely gesture. I will treasure it and listen to it often. You are a kind and thoughtful person and I am honored to call you “friend”.
I am home from the hospital now and doing better. Thank you for your positive thoughts for my recovery.
Dondra

Le Ministre, what a nice gift! That is beautiful. Well done, and I hope Dondra enjoyed it!
