Brazile is poison to any cable news outlet, she’s looking to ring the register with a book that appeals to butthurt Bernie Bros. She’s well aware that the political focus will turn towards the midterms next year and most of us aren’t looking to refight the 2016 primaries when the goal is to recapture congress.
I think the real motive, the real message besides trying to excuse her own role in the party’s failure in 2016 is that she (and probably others in the Democratic party) want Hillary to shut the hell up and go away already. It’s not news that the Clintons were the de facto heads of the Democratic party - this had been the case for 2 decades despite the 8 years of sharing power with Obama. But the party and her millions of loyal voters trusted Hillary to win not only the presidency but also down ballot, and she failed miserably at every level. It’s bad enough that Clinton’s failed campaign cost the party the white house and congress and left it financially devastated - that’s all pretty damn bad in and of itself. But for Hillary to have the audacity to keep crawling out of the drain as if she still represents Democrats and to keep reminding everyone of the horrors of last November makes her insufferable. Someone in the party had to do it, had to finally once and for all rip her and the Clinton legacy to shreds. Good work, Donna.
Sure. I’m okay with that. Politics exists inside the party just like it does outside. Clinton played the DNC politics and won. This isn’t the League of Women Voters, and I see no reason to expect the DNC wouldn’t want to help someone like Clinton. I wouldn’t be surprised or offended if the RNC did a few things to sabotage Trump (unsuccessfully, as it turns out)
Pfff, Donna will be fine and someone else will gladly use her influence and services; she just won’t be able to rig presidential debates anymore.
This is absolutely true, and I don’t have any problem with, like you said, putting a finger on the scale. In fact I kind of like the super delegate system that the Democrats have, although I wish they remained unpledged longer. If the Republicans had that same system they might have been able to avoid nominating Trump. The issue for me is more that she was formally (through the signed agreement) running things at the DNC so incredibly early on (shortly after running and a year away from gaining the nomination) and that down ballot races were not being supported.
Also, this further points out just how disastrous Wasserman Schultz was.
I agree, but there’s value to what Donna is doing. I say this as someone who supported and went door to door for Hillary. She needs to shut up and just stay out of the spotlight. That’s what Donna’s trying to get her to do. I’m sure that in the short run we’ll be hearing a lot of indignant comments from HRC but I think the left is going to shut her down. My only fear is that HRC and Bubba are so narcissistic that they might drift over to the right wing and start sabotaging the progressives. I could absolutely see them doing that out of spite a la Joe Lieberman.
I think the article makes sense: WS did absolutely nothing for the campaign. Her job was to be Hillary’s pit bull or ringside “manager” to grab Bernie’s leg and trip him when the ref wasn’t looking.

Part of “discussing the issue” can be saying the discussion doesn’t matter.
A few other thoughts. If you are a DNC donor I would think you would be unable to trust them on what they say the donation is going to be used for. Also, could this be one of the reasons that Biden decided not to enter the race?

What do they say the donations are used for?
Currently is says this on their website under “donate”:

Well, I assume they would say it supports Democrats in all sorts of races. When I go on the website democrats.org right now the first thing it says is Elect Democrats in Virginia. This supports my opinion that the DNC would be supporting all sorts of Democratic races throughout the country. So, let’s say it was late 2015 and I was a Bernie Sanders supporter who also wanted to support Democrats across the country. If the DNC is saying that donations go toward supporting all sorts of races but in reality almost all of it went toward Hillary Clinton that would upset me.
She’s explicitly critical of Obama too, for his “neglect” that left the party “in significant debt.” Whatever she’s doing, she’s burning a lot of significant bridges.
Maybe she’s angling for that “one black person standing behind Trump at his rallies” job.
Is that the only question that was leaked?
Wasn’t there also a question about the death penalty? A question that Donna had concerns that Hillary would not be able to effectively answer?

And are we sure that everything was captured by the leaked emails or is it possible that there was other shit going on over the phone or in person? The DNC was corrupt and once you have established that, you cannot say well the only stuff that happened was the stuff you caught us doing. That’s just the LEAST that happened.
If you can look at one video of a cop shooting a black man and extrapolate that cops shoot black men all the time, then why can’t you extrapolate from this event combined with all the other crap we have seen from the Clinton camp?
