KellyM - I guess then that I will have to request a cite from you showing that a female can produce sperm. Not a biological male who chooses to live as a female, but “living woman sperm” that can impregnate.
The more things I read from the two of you, the more I am convinced you are purposefully trying to be outrageous. Your shtick is getting boring.
KellyM is transgendered, although currently a quirk of genetics has given her the equipment of a man, she is a woman and to refer to her as male is rude.
Although I admit to having some problems wrapping my mind around this concept myself, I look at it like this. Currently I am female, I identify as female. If I woke up tomorrow in the body of a man, would I still consider myself female? The answer is yes, just having male equipment wouldn’t make me male.
Socially, KellyM is female, as that is how she has choosen to live her life.
Biologically, she is male. no operation can change her genetics. Diane is perfectly correct to refer to her as male for the purposes of this discussion.
Glory, I think the point is, lee and KellyM are trying to convince us that because KellyM believes she’s a woman that her sperm is “woman sperm”. It is not. It is man sperm.
Green fine by me. I felt the tone was snarky. (especially, towards the end here, Kambuckta)
OTOH, at this point, I really, really want to back away from the whole thing.
in the abstract, I feel that a parent has the right to make choices like “I won’t allow Disney stuff in my home”, w/o having to justify why, and/or have folks attempt to claim that it’ll cause heartbreak or whatever for the child.
In the alternate universe that this thread has become, I’m carefully backing out in my own footsteps, as if I was never here.
This has truly got to be the most incredulous statement I have ever read on this board or any other in all the years that I’ve been here. You child has a lot more to worry about than Disney.
I gotta ask, in your minds, does KellyM have a wonderful woman penis outta which she ejaculates that woman sperm?
That birds and the bees discussion is definitely gonna be a keeper.
Disclaimer - tho folk reading this may feel otherwise, I do not consider myself nearly as judgmental of unconventional lifestyles, as I am of stupidity.
So, I’m like forming a band–3-piece blues–and I’m wondering whether “The Wonderful Living Woman Sperm” or just “Woman Sperm” would be a better name for it.
Kelly is a woman. Yes, she is transsexual. She looks and lives as a woman and loves as a woman. It has been established before this on the boards that she was born for all outward appearance XY. Kelly is a woman.
If she has sperm, why not call it woman sperm? That started as a joke in reference to a Kids in the Hall sketch that I found amusing. It is a twist of phrase like that from Joanna Russ’s The female Man. I am not implying that it is in an way quantatively different than any other sperm, except it came from her.
One of the reasons I opened this thread is that I expected to be flamed for overreacting to [ibUkulele Ike’s** twitting me about my choice, as well as the choice I made. I wanted to flame him and the others who seem to think that my resolve will melt or that I have no business making such a descision about what is allowed in my home. Fair is fair. I was pissed off and I thought sounding off or even reacting in a thread that had its own topic was innappropriate. I knew that others would react to the Disney ban, and to me taking Ukulele Ike to task for twitting me. Fine, I have responded, sometimes snipily, but I have tried not to be a Jerk, but I did not think my words were out of line for the Pit.
I did not expect for such nasty torrents of hate and ingnorance about our sexuality to pour forth as they have in the last few pages. I am stunned by the hateful ignorance. We did not drag our sexuality into this thread. None of the facts regarding it or the conception of our child is new to the boards, and were only mentioned and clarified because others had drawn them into this thread. I am truly saddened and shocked by the reaction. I thought we had been welcomed and accepted, and even congratulated. We haven’t changed.
I haven’t seen ONE PERSON express a ‘torrent of hate’ regarding your sexuality. But when you and KellyM start vehemently insisting that women create women sperm, we simply need an explanation.
Had you originally said “it’s just a little joke we have from Kids in the Hall” I’m sure it would have ended. Instead we were told by Kelly that it’s some bizarre, complex function of nature…which it is not.
