Taps foot and glares at Mr. Blue Sky
According to BBC news Supersize portions , in the UK at least, account for only about 1% of sales . So removing them will not make all that much difference. What it does do is give a good sound-bite and some positive publicity for McDonalds without hurting them much on the balance sheet.
I spend much of my time eating meals that are as low cal with as much nutrition as possible. Nutrition versus cals…day in, day out.
But when I drag me keyster to McDonalds, bet your arse I want to to Supersize it!
If they cut the size because it didn’t sell, then so be it, but if they cut it because people lack control and then blame everything but themselves for their trouble, then that sucks.
I never get fries at McDonalds anyway because they’re just full of grease, I much prefer just a burger and a small/medium drink. At least the burger has protein in it.
I can’t say I’m impressed with McD’s little plan to look like they care about public health.
There is less than a 1oz difference between a supersized fry and a large fry. Woohoo! Cut out that one whole ounce and America will be sporting string bikinis in NO time!
When McD’s cuts out supersized sodas, maybe I’ll believe they want America to get healthier. A supersized Coke is 42 ounces. It has 410 calories and 113 grams of carbohydrates!!! One hundred and thirteen grams, all of which come from sugar! 113g of sugar!!!
Now an occasional blowout at McD’s won’t kill you, not even with their sugar laden death sodas. But nobody cooks on their lunch break, as they don’t have time. Gotta grab what you can, and hamburgers and fries are a lot easier to wolf down than a salad. Hard to eat a salad while driving.
