What was this guy’s name and what’s happened to him?
That’s Bill Irwin.
He’s a dancer/clown/actor, and is incredibly brilliant. He’s turned up in a few films doing some very funny stuff, but he’s got such an “everyman” face that most people don’t recognize him.
He won a MacArthur “Genius” Award some years ago.
If you want to see the best of Bill Irwin doing that funny physical schtick of his, rent the Steve Martin/Rick Moranis movie My Blue Heaven. There’s a bit in there of Irwin doing a funky wild merengue that knocks me out every time I see it.
