Anyone know where I can download a demo of Doom 3?
Well, first there’ll actually have to be a demo to download, won’t there?

Unless you’re talking about the leaked alpha, and while I just realised that I have now idea about the legality of it (though I think it was shitty of whoever released it to do so), I have heard from many places, including a friend of mine that it’s so unoptimised it is guaranteed to be ulplayably slow on ANY computer you run it on.
How’s that for a long sentence?
There /was/ one a year ago, but I don’t know if it was public or industry only. It was vaguely connected to DX9 and cards and stuff, so it could have been a dev/card deal. It was the same build they ran at E3 that year, I think.
It was chuggy as hell on a 1.8g Athlon 500MB RAM (I think that’s what we ran it on, maybe a 1.2). Can’t remember what card we ran it on, either a Geforce Ti 4somtheingorother or an evaluation board ATI 9700. Insanely pretty and looked fairly promising on the ‘scare the crap out of yourself by playing it in a dark room with headphones on’ scale.
Alas, I will probably have to wait a year or so from release before I can afford the rig I’ll need to play this thing when it finally comes out. At least it will be budget and fully patched by then

It is a leaked demo. It is not legal to have. The only place you could easily find it is on kazaa. It is a pain in the ass to run because it requires all sorts of configuration to be done in the console, which you don’t know the commands to. Also, don’t expect to get higher than 15 FPS. Also, if you do get it, you get to a point where you must pass a door with a code pad on it. You will not find the code anywhere in the level, you must just enter each number consecutively until you find it. I think that the code is somewhere in the 900’s.
