Peanut butter + chocolate magic shell.
Ritz crackers and pepper jelly
White Cheddar Cheeze-Its and juice
German Schwartzbrot and smelly soft cheese. (Optional third item: sliced tomato)
a block of cream cheese with SPICY salsa dumped on top of it.
Also
Peanut Butter and Provalone cheese (probably served on warm bread, but that would violate the rules)
scrambled eggs and rasberry jam
ALSO
bacon and or sausage with good maple syrup
Pita bread, (not the Greek style, it must be the Mid eastern kind, with the pocket, no cholesterol etc.). Cut them in half, (so you have two half moon pieces), open the pocket and tear (so you have four half moon pieces).
Spread with garlic butter. You can use any kind you fancy, I make my own using soya margarine with no cholesterol or non hydrogenated fats but you could use any store brand you like.
Stack the half moons and slice into 3 or 4 pie slice shaped pieces. Spread on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 - 400 degrees for 5 - 7 minutes, until brown but not blackened. Cool in a bowl lined with paper towel.
These can be served with any dip you like, but are just as good on their own. My friends adore them. When I make them I have to make extras so they don’t fight over them. My husband never wants me to put them out for company, he wants to keep them for himself!
I promise, if you make these tasty snacks your friends will be over the moon and you will be requested to provide them whenever you attend a party. They will always be a hit no matter how you serve them.
I first made them when the Mr was put on a low cholesterol diet. They have replaced chips and snack crackers quite handily.
Easy, only two ingredients, cheap, not terribly bad for you and extremely yummy.
I think I might win this thread, should I start disrobing now?
I promise, if you try these you will be impressed and you will agree - I win!
Strawberries dipped in whipped cream.
Or, strawberries dipped into a glass of champagne. Raspberries are excellent like this too.
Slice of real mozzarella + slice of proscuitto. Roll into a tube and eat. Yum!
caviar and toast points.
Dates stuffed with smoked almonds.
A question for proponents of “cream cheese with tasty topping”: you eat just that as a snack? Yummy as the combination is, I’ve only had it with crackers or something…a tertiary treat as opposed to a binary snack.
Cream cheese with pepperoni! Or pepperoni with Boursin. French Bread with Boursin. French Bread with Butter! French bread with olive oil. Focaccia with olive oil.
You could. I wouldn’t but you could. Really the chips/crackers/etc are just a delivery device. (at least for me)
Yeah! Put them right next to the olives stuffed with blue cheese.
Baby carrots and sharp cheddar.
Yeah, I figured that wasn’t cheating because the cracker is just an edible spoon.
Warm, crusty French bread with herb & garlic cream cheese spread.
Specifically, brie. For some reason the combination tastes like caramel.
Try it with pears.
ETA: well, pretty much any cheese, really.
Speaking of caramel. I just remembered another that I’ve shared elsewhere on the Dope over the years.
Milk Duds + Movie Theater popcorn. Best consumed in the following manner: place 2 Milk Duds in mouth and suck (do not chew!) until they are warm and melty in your mouth. Cram as much popcorn into your mouth as it can hold. Chew freely and yummily. It is like making popcorn balls from scratch, one mouthful at a time.
We do pears and Stilton.
Graham crackers and cream cheese frosting.
Chocolate chips dumped directly in the peanut butter jar… and eaten with a spoon while wearing a guilty expression.
Pita and hummus
Bacon-wrapped dates
Wash down with dirty martini! :drooool:
