I am going to be in Dublin end of July with some co-workers and friends to go to the U2 concert. It’d be great to meet some other 'dopers from Ireland.
Anyone want to get together in the Temple Bar area on Sunday, July 26th, sometime that afternoon/evening? I’ll bring a bunch of drunk friends and a credit card…
Open to suggestions on when/where to go, I think we’re just planning on a big pub crawl that day.
I’m in. You’re even welcome to call up to the flat if you like. I suggest Grogan’s which isn’t too far from Temple Bar and which Yojimbo and I both frequent as a good starting point.
I can’t meet up in the afternoon I just realised but am free that evening.
I will be in Dublin for the U2 shows also and would love to have some plans of my own for Sunday afternoon/evening to get away from the people I will be with. I sound like fun, don’t I?

I’m coming from the States (Connecticut). I promised myself after the last tour that I would see them in Dublin this time around since it might be their last tour…
I would suggest Grogan’s as the place to meet but** Yojimbo **(if he’s on for it) might have better ideas.
Two weeks, and I am starting to get excited for this trip. I am amazed at how many people I know have been to Ireland. Every single one of them enjoyed it, and highly recommend going.

7 days. Good luck finding hotel rooms that weekend, though. They are booked.

Sorry guys, I’m best man for my brother’s wedding in Galway at the weekend. Damnnit, I haven’t even been to one dopefest yet!

Sorry, only seeing this thread now. I’ll see if TwistofFate is around for a few but I have a feeling he may be working over the weekend in Cork.
The plot thickens however.
I generally go home to the parents on Sunday and do family dinner, show I’m not dead etc. but I then usually go out with my Da for a few, and we generally go to Grogans. We’re usually there from about 18:00 to 21:00. Sometimes we leave Grogans around 19:30 for a few in nearby pub (The Dame Tavern) coz there’s music there, an ad hoc band singing a mixture of Irish and American trad/folk.
I can make Grogans if that time suits. Might not be around 100% of the time depending on if my Da’s friends are there or not but he’s a friendly sort, much more so than me and not too old (65) 
Well I won’t make it into town til at least 6 so that time suits me anyway.

I’d love to make it (thanks for the heads-up yojimbo) but unfortunately my social life is on hold for the rest of the summer, due to hellish exams I have to sit in September. Have a great time though. You’ll like Grogan’s, everybody does.
