TonyF almost dragged me to the boards kicking and screaming. And I gotta say, after my free membership expired, it grew enough on me that I actually paid for a membership. Who knew?
But it’s nice, we look at different threads so we pretty much do our own thing on the sdmb. I call IMHO and MPSIMS whereas he goes for GQ, Cafe and the Pit. At least we have eclectic tastes!
I have not yet convinced Mr. Stasaeon to join, nor do I think it will happen anytime soon. I read him all the interesting threads I come across (there’s usually some sort of synchronicity going on around here; whenever he and I are discussing something we’d like to learn more about, up springs a thread in GD, General Questions, or even IMHO that asks the exact question on both of our tongues), and sometimes link a thread or two to him, but he has no real interest in joining. He doesn’t even lurk. He figures I report anything of any real interest to him, anyway. I suppose that has its benefits. I was able to list all of his Christmas gifts here in a recent thread without worrying that he’d find it.
He says he thinks this place would rile him up too much. Fair enough, he knows his limits. I’m not easily riled, so I’ll be sticking around. Lucky* you*.
This is my stance as well. He knows I come here, I occasionally talk about things I read here and I have seen him lurking on the debate board a few times. He has never asked my user name and I have never offered it, though I would if he asked.
He would never pay a membership for this type of thing, so my little haven is safe should I ever have a gripe or embarrasing problem to vent about.
Heh, heh. I accidentally got Stonebow banned once by using his name to post. TPTB thought I had two user accounts. Admittedly, it was the result of my own inability to read the stickies.
You can add j_sum 1 and myself to the list. He got me hooked when we first started going out and after lurking for a few months I paid my registration. That was a couple of years ago. We’ve been married now for 9 months.
Nope, they met at DTF in 2001. I remember being surprised that Heloise was a Doper because a. she seemed attached to Coldfire so I assumed she was his girlfriend, and b. I thought she was too pretty to be a computer dork! Heh!
I dated a Doper for several months. He doesn’t post a lot, but I see him around from time to time. It’s now been long enough since we dated that any hard feelings have faded away.
Add **Rhiannon8404 **and I to the list. I was here first, but she posts much more often than I do. Of course, she is a self-proclaimed “message board junkie”.
DrLoveGun and I met in high school in 1991. We dated for a year in college, broke up, and then got back together almost 10 years later and awhile later had Petey.
DLG was introduced to SDMB by me.
However, I was introduced to SDMB by my exboyfriend MaxtheVool back when we dated in 2002. So I am or have been part of at least 2 Doper couples, and it wouldn’t surprise me to find out I had another ex floating around here and I wasn’t aware of the IRL connection.
Me, Skipmagic, Siege, JayJay, Vivalostwages, Twickster, Homebrew, Zeldar, Angua, and Biggirl have been living in a communal open marraige for lo these many years.
My ex-gf, SpasticKitty, and I were active SDMB members at the same time until we broke up our long-distance relationship in Jan 2003. I introduced her to the SDMB. She remained an active member until it was no longer free but she recently told me that she still lurks now and then.
I go through long phases where I only lurk and search archives, but I have been posting more often lately since I have time off between college semesters and am not working.
Mithril introduced me to the board when we started dating, and I spent quite a while being a lurker and only chiming in now and again. I lurk when I dont have much else going on, and am looking for entertainment, but Mithril lurks quite a bit, as she frequently tells me about various threads she’s read.
I really started paying more attention to the board when she emailed me the link to The horror of blimps a couple years ago. Everyone at the office got a real kick out of that one.
