Doper Nicknames

I’ve noticed that a lot of Dopers have fairly long usernames. And it seems that a lot of us (myself included) like to shorten them occasionally. So how do you like your name shortened.

(If you’re too lazy to type 4 letters, you can just call me T, I guess. :D)

Hmmmm. I’ve had folks around here call me ‘nori’, and even though that was never the intent of my username, I guess it cuts off a syllable or two (depending on whether you say “nori-new” or “norine dubayu”). I wouldn’t say it’s my preference, but I don’t mind it.

I would go out on a limb and say that by now, Qadgop the Mercotan is accustomed to being “QtM”, and LeastOriginalUserNameEver is used to being “LOUNE”.

My username has been shortened to Missy by the SDMB Poker Dudes. Even though it’s not my RL name, I find myself answering to it anyways.

Not that anyone has occasion to refer to me, but I’m being proactive - I would like to be called iffy, should anyone ever have need of me.

Accustomed to it, yes. I even like it. But it plays havoc with my egocentric vanity searches, since 3 letter words aren’t searchable.

Probably I’m a freak, even amongst the Dopers, but I’ve never actually done a vanity search! (Though I probably would if I had a specialty, like, if I was a doctor or somethin’)

Or a narcissist, even. But that’s the same difference, I suppose.

bb is fine by me.

I think mine is pretty obvious, but I really wish somebody would come up with one of those things where you take the first few letters of words and make a new word, like FoMoCo.

Reno @ B?

Most people call me pede, which isn’t bad as nicknames go, but it’s kinda uncomfortably close to pedo (something I had overlooked when I chose the name).

I prefer ped.

Not theresa? That’s the first thing that jumps out when I see your username.

I’ve had people call me E_K, and that’s all right with me.

I don’t think it happens on here, but in other places where I use this name, there are people who either online or in person refer to me as “Asi,” which works just fine by me.

There was the one person, though, who insisted my name was to be pronounced as “Ass Is A-Movin’.” I never quite got used to that one…

Attack is fine. AFT3D is ok too.

Wow. I have had variations on the “if there’s a…” username/email for years, and never noticed that. Nope, not a Theresa. (it’s late… that is a name, isn’t it?)

Dammit, now this is gonna be like the arrow in the FedEx logo for me. I’ve never seen it before, now I’ll never be able to not see it!

Mika is fine and I rather like it.

I use this name in a few other places, and people usually shorten it to just piggy, which is fine with me!

You say that like my user name is unwieldy. I reject that assumption and replace it with cotton candy.
