Inspired by this thread, in which people are generally saying they’re okay with a board nickname, but express a preference for one version over another.
Me: I prefer twicks as making my periodic vanity searches easier. twick also works for that, since I search for twick*, but it seems less “me” than twicks.
I don’t like twix, because if I do a vanity search on that I end up either with references to candy bars or in the middle of one of sampiro’s stories (he’s inordinantly fond of the preposition “twixt”).
Huh. I like “Twix”–twix is for kids. “PRR” is short and convenient, but “that irritating asshole” will do if you can’t remember the whole latinate construct.
Since I probably have the lowest shoutouts-to-postcount ratio of any Doper alive, it barely matters, but FWIW I prefer Knead to KTK, KtK, K2K or other variants.
Knead
Won’t someone think of the vanity searchers?
Haaaaa!!! Ok, Rebo. I like it. I don’t care what you folks call me, just don’t call me late for a trainwreck. I’m always late for those, come strolling in about page 12.
I like Mossie. My username is actually a nickname for my camp nickname, Mosquito. Some of my friends regularly call me Mossie, so it seems pretty natural to me.
I don’t mind FCM, except for that 3-letter search issue.
In the MMP, some refer to me as **Moooom **(not sure of the *o *count) which cracks me up.
But I don’t particularly like Fairy. Don’t know why, just don’t like it. And interestingly, searching for* fairy** brings up a lot of religions debate threads. Go figure…
No one speaks about me anyway so it doesn’t matter but I prefer Joph. Luckily, on forums where people do occassionally have cause to reference me, that’s what they use.
A few oddballs use Jo but that femininizes the name even worse than usual. I already have enough people assuming I’m a skirt.
