Doper ONION Subscribers?

Any of y’all subscribe the the print edition? I picked up a copy in Chicago a year or two ago (or longer…it had a story about an undercover vice cop…). Is it better then the online version? Is it worth it?

Secondarily, although I own and listen to entirely too much Johnny Cash, and I’ve never failed to “get” and be amused by an Onion headline, this one has got me. I hate to have jokes explained to me (and I hate to explain them to others) but could someone throw me a frickin’ bone here?

“Johnny Cash Called In To Assess Floodwater Levels”

Not a clue about the Onion, but that’s one pretty damn good sig, man.

[sub]Ok so I had to take waaaaaay too many geology courses in college.[/sub]

I didn’t read that article, but maybe referrig to the level of teh bottom of his pants?

I get the paper version distributed here free every wednesday. I think it has more articles and the articles seem to be longer, not abbreviated, and more pictures. I’m kinda guessing here, never rally ananlyzed them that close.

Since I do get it every week, I tend not to read it that closely, just read the headlines, the ask-the-guy-on-the street thing and Jim Anchower. Maybe if you got it every week you’d get bored???

I don’t know that much about Johnny Cash, but didn’t he have a song called “Three Feet High and Rising”? The Onion headline probably references that.

I take the print edition. I don’t think it’s really any better, infact I get stuff a week after it’s on the web. Sure there’s a few more stories, the av stuff is on web as well. The advertisments, Laciele and Union Cab (Don’t be a drunken idiot!) particularly, are pretty funny usually.

I know even less than I thought I did, the song is called Five Feet High and Rising.

Oh, I should mention that they’re not exactly religious about getting the thing out on time, or stapling the thing together correctly.

Aha! Thanks 23skidoo! That does help make it funny (albeit the strained kind of funny that comes when its explained to you, but funny nonetheless).

Thanks to the rest of y’all for the fast response and opinions; guess I’ll make do with the e-version and save my periodical budget for The Economist (also funny, but in its own way).
