"The Onion"- Worth buying a subscription?

Like several of you out there, I look forward to the weekly online edition of “The Onion”. I was wondering if anybody subscribes to the print edition.

I think it would be worth the price if there was a great amount of additional content in the print edition that is unavailable in the online edition; however, if there are only a couple of extra stories then I don’t know if that would be such a great deal.

Any thoughts?

I saw a print version of The Onion once, and I was pretty underwhelmed. Given their high subscription fees, I’d say save your money.

Yeah, after the first few pages, the print version is mostly ads, with a pretty large entertainment section (movie/album reviews, etc.). I pick one up when we’re in Madison (they’re free on the street all over town) and it’s good for a few minutes of amusement. I wouldn’t pay for it.

I’ll concur that there doesn’t seem to be that much more in there than the on-line edition. I did, however, send gift subscriptions for Xmas to my uncle and my SO (two separate people, before anyone makes a joke ;)); the former doesn’t have an internet connection, and the latter doesn’t have a puter at home. Considering it’s weekly, I didn’t consider the subscription price to be too steep.

I had a subscription for a year and, while it was cool to have, I wouldn’t really say it was worth the money in the long run. The issues didn’t come to my place until like four days after they were posted online, so by the time I got it, I had usually already read almost all of it. If you have access to the online version, I say just read it online and then buy the next Ad Nauseum book when it comes out.

OK, I want to say this: I subscribed last year and I LOVED it and considered it worth the money. I loved having the paper copy, curling up with it and reading it cover to cover, laughing at the ads, reading the LARGE number of movie reviews and such, and cutting out funny parts and sending them to friends. Two thumbs up from me on the print version.

Buy “This Dumb Century” and just re-read it when you need a laugh.
