The Onion costs $30 a month now!

For The Onion “Premium”. What a load of crap. Who likes the Onion that much? I went there a few times a week, and was entertained, but there’s no way in hell I’d pay $30 for the occasional chuckle. At least the ads are gone.

It’s $30 a year, not a month… Plus anybody can still read it for free. You just get ads, and won’t be able to read older stuff… But the occasional Onion reader probably won’t notice much difference.

EZ

A monthly subscription for people who sometimes enjoy the Onion: $7.00
A yearly subscription for people who really like the onion: $30.00
Not having to pay at all if you think the onion stopped being funny years ago: priceless.

Quite right. $30 per year, error on my part. Now, where do I go to view this “same as before” free version? My bookmark led me to the premium site, and I left quickly. Meh.

I went straight to www.theonion.com. Got the normal site, with a new menu bar for subscribers. Otherwise, it seems to work the same.

PHEW! I couldn’t believe my eyes when I read $30 a month. The Onion is so not worth that. I’m not even sure it’s worth $30 a year anymore.

It’s still a good 20-minute diversion once a week.
