Doper Parents: What's your kid gonna be for Halloween?

Yeah. Kids are hard-headed sometimes, huh?

My son is going to go as either a mad scientist or Dr. Phil. I’m not sure how he’d pull off Dr Phil, but I like the idea.

He’s 11.

My little girl is going to be a fairy princess. She wanted to be Tinkerbell but I wasn’t about to pay forty dollars for a costume.

The oldest is going as some goth-ish maiden with a bullwhip.

Our 3 1/2yro is going to be a racecar driver–he has an outfit complete with the sponsor stickers, baseball cap, and the like. He will be “driving” his push-pedal car around the neighborhood.

FWIW, Son 2.0 (currently in his 31st week in utero) and I were bakers at work yesterday. I borrowed a chef outfit from someone, complete with neckerchief and big white puffy hat. I printed some cartoony clip art of a bun in the oven and affixed it to the belly, neckerchief, and hat of the outfit.

That’s right, I was a baker with Bun in the Oven Bakery.

I (we) won 3rd place at the costume contest at work.

Here are some photos - enjoy!

My little one had an allergy to her fairy costume so I threw a cowgirl costume together on the fly.

I think she liked it better anyway:

This year, our costumes were super easy:
S is for Spencer
C is for Colin
M is for Mama
D is for Dada

The 3 1/2 year old asked. One sheet of foam core, cut up with an x-acto knife, big old markers, and some butcher’s twine … done in ten minutes!

Trick-or-treat was Friday night, and my 14-year-old son, for the first time, didn’t go out. However, tonight, the high school youth group at our church was doing a Halloween thing. For the past few years, he has chosen some obscure (to me, at least!) anime character from a video game. This year, he is Roxas from Kingdom Hearts.

As an added bonus, I suggested we make monster finger cookies for him to take to youth group. He was in charge of the shaping, and I was in charge of fingernail placement. He made them a little on the large side, so they really look more like bloated corpse fingers. We had a blast making them, and they are quite yummy!

I’m not sure the last link to a FaceBook photo album worked if you didn’t happen to be me. Let me try that one more time…
My son as Beetlejuice.

My daughter as Mother Earth.

Our front yard with the excavation disguised as a Hallowe’en diorama.

I’ll see if that works any better.
