I’ve wanted to go forever. My sister has been there, my sister-in-law has been there and I’m jealous!
I forgot to add, when I left my job back in 07 a doper invited my wife and I to spend a week or so with them in Florida. Had a wonderful time.
I always had the idea, back when I was a major part of another online community, to do a long road trip and visit a bunch of people I knew in the community for a few days at each stop. I’m still up for it because I’ve never done a real road trip and it’s on my list of things I must do, but I’m in the middle of trying to find a steady job and a road trip just makes me procrastinate further.
I’d love to host, but I still live with my parents (another thing I’m desperately trying to rectify). When I was in college and friends from the internet came to visit me, the running joke was for me to introduce them to my parents as “The 47-year-old man from the internet.” It would be pretty funny to actually have a 47-year-old man visit once, though. Would give my poor mother a heart attack. 
I think it’s a darling idea. The first person I thought of re: your questions was Aesiron, and I see that he’s answered. I’ve never done it, would consider it if I were single. We might be able to host someone after some of these kids move out… we’ll have to see. 
I would host a Doper, but wouldn’t be able to take much time off work, so they’d be on their own on the weekdays. Would you go through my stuff when I wasn’t here? If not, you’d be welcome. If so, you’re still welcome, but you’d be pretty bored.
I’ve got a mattress and a couch ready for any Doper who happens to end up in Malmö, Sweden.
Priceguy, I’d take up the offer if this thread had been up a couple of years ago. I was travelling quite a bit to Copenhagen in the past two years and wanted to see a bit of Sweden as well.
Oh, and my humble couch is on offer if anyone is passing through Sydney. But give me a week’s notice, it’ll take me that long to clean up my place.

Considering the price of gas, perhaps I should fly. If my car got 20 mpg, it’d cost $68 just to get to NYC, frinstance. That’s one way. A flight would be $171 and take 10 hours less time, total. pbbth, I’ll be in touch!
