I used to play a MMRPG and this was one of my characters names. I’ve since found out she’s a goddess of fate and fortune.
There is a river near my home called the Blackfoot. I have many fond memories of floating down it and nearly drowning during the Spring Runoff, sitting on an innertube with a six-pack only to find myself clutching onto it for life after running over some sharp rocks, etc.
I came to Japan a few years ago, and I used Blackfoot on other sites, but people kept asking me if I was black…
I thought of changing my name to something Japanese, but I wanted something not too presumptuous. And at that point I wasn’t sure if I was staying or going. I’m still not sure. Anyway…
“Kuroi,” or “kuro” when added to a noun, means black in Japanese, and “ashi” means foot or leg.
Because I’m really Kelsey Grammer.
I’m new, too but here goes:
Meezer is a nickname for Siamese cats, i.e. Siameeze - get it?
I adore and have Meezers.
I’m a citified hick, and I wanted my name on SMDB to be some sort of pun, so there ya go.
Me: “I need a username. How about ‘gnome’?”
The Mrs.: “Nahhhh. You don’t have a pointy hat.”
Me: “Ok, how about ‘hobgoblin’?”
The Mrs.: “Did you say ‘hobnobbing’?”
– hobgnoblin
I too am relatively new, but I’ll tell ya anyway. It’s from the book “Eaters of the Dead.” Which of course became, the thirteenth warrior. Basically it’s a fictional account of a possible way the legend of Beowulf came about. I like vikings, thus I chose it. It was this or Lars…go figure.
Buliwyf
God was my copilot, then we crashed and I had to eat him.
My name is Bill. I have three nieces and three nephews. They call me Uncle Bill. I thought I’d be original and remove the space. Did it work?
Du Hast was my favorite Rammstein song when I registered.
Unfortunately, my musical tastes have since changed.
Well, we had just finished reading Julius Caesar in Enr. English 10. I liked Caesar’s character (though Brutus is really my favorite; such a noble guy but such a fool sometimes), and I thought the scenes where Caesar’s ghost confronts Brutus and tells him he will see the ghost at Phillipi (which is where Brutus kills himself) seemed a letdown to me. Nevertheless, I remembered it for the SDMB.
It has nothing to do with the phrase “Great Caesar’s Ghost!” but if you want to call me great, go ahead.
Old Zappa tune. Got a 40 dollar bill and a sister who’s a little bit dumb:)
Mine was a typo. I was trying to type “kitchenblues”, the title of a David Wilcox song, when they new kitten jumped up and tried to walk on the keyboard. My hands typed what I said (kitten! off!) and I liked it better
My dopername comes from a character in the book The Neverending Story, written by the late Michael Ende.
Oh, I know I’ve said this before on the board, but I’ll say it again. If you’re only familiar with the movie, then you’ve only seen half the story. (And Part II was nothing at all like the second half, so don’t get me started on that.)
I’ve explained it before, but might as well do it again:
It’s a word I made up quite a few years ago, which is an acronym in a way… at least the FLAM part is.
Some of the important things in life to me are:
Friends, Laughter, And, Music
Naturally, it had a few suffixes, thus:
Flami
Flamster
Flamsterette
Flamsterette_X
(it has nothing to do with flaming people, or getting flamed all the time; there have been some people who have asked me that!)
