Well, it seems the time for announcing and planning summer 'fests is here. So let me be the first to invite you all to beautiful Montreal, Quebec, Canada for Doperéal II : Boogaloo électrique!

Right, OK, I’m not lobbying for the Olympics. Enough cheese. :wink:

Anyhoo, we discussed Doperéal II at Sugardope in March. We figured we’d suggest the end of July for our second annual summer Dopefest. Doperéal 2002 was a smashing success, so let’s double, triple, even quadruple the fun!

I’d like to put forth July 18 - 20 or July 25 - 27 as very preliminary dates to consider.[sup]*[/sup] Last year we had it at the end of August, cuz matt_mcl and LaurAnge were in Europe… all sorts of summer plans. So this is a good time to find out who’s doing what, when, and for how long, so that we can all attend.

There’s lots of stuff to do here in the summer, as it’s the city of festivals, and there are plenty of attractions. Last year we went to the Biodôme, which was amazing.

So… who’s interested? :slight_smile:

My trips to Canada have gotten progressively worse over the past few. If I go there again, I’m certain I’ll become infected with SARS.

Yes, I know that’s Toronto and not Montreal. I’m just sayin’…

Hm… looking at the Eonwe calendar of commitments, I see that after August 9th I have nothing. June and July are pretty booked.

The end of July is bad for me, otherwise I would definitely be there!

Well, the 61st World Science Fiction Convention is in Toronto over the Labour Day weekend, and Anime North is the weekend of May 17th, so those weekends’re out, but I’ve been wanting to make a visit to Montréal for some time. July looks good. Definitely keep me posted. :slight_smile:

For now, the only thing you would have to worrry about in Montréal, is West Nile virus. :smiley:

July is a distinct possibility, but right now, any significant travel plans are on hold pending Airman’s return and any future deployments.

Gee, I caught the reference to Breakin’ II… that’s not a bad thing, is it?

I cold probably do Dopereal – finally! Grrrr! I’ve been workin’ so much I’ve had to put of TWO planed visits to Montreal.

Hey, in July/August, I don’t think it gets below freezing too often (but don’t forget your skis!). :smiley:

The last weekend in July and the first weekend in August may be difficult for me, but other than that, I’m pretty open.

I think I will be heading to Montreal mid-late June for the Fringe of Theatre Festival. I doubt I’d be able to head up twice this summer.

Hmmm, it seems mid-August might be a better time. I mean, that’s when Eonwe, for one, can make it, and I gots to have me sum Eonwe-lovin’! :wink:

Let me put forth August 8 - 10 or August 15 - 17 for potential weekends…
