Since the first thread has died (perhaps due to what could have been perceived as an obnoxious OP by yours truly ;)), and since we have some new Montreal Dopers (Upside_Down_Amber, Brendan_Donovan, among others), I thought I’d start a new Doperéal II thread rather than ressurect the old one.
Doperéal, of course, is what we call our annual summer 'fest up here in Montreal - glorious, breathtaking (yet SARS-free), scenic, très gai city of festivals. I believe LaurAnge coined that little name.
Judging from responses to the initial thread, it seems August is a better time for people. I suggest August 15 - 17 and August 22 - 24 as potential weekends for Doperéal 2003. Last year we went to the Biodôme, so it would be cool to do something along those lines this year as a “touristy” sort of activity. And of course the traditional Saturday dinner, clubs, whatever.
August would definitely suit me better than June or July! Are there any music festivals or anything like that going on in Montreal at that time? That might be fun to do.
If we end up doing anything the weekend of August 15 - 17[sup]th[/sup], I will be wearing a Madonna t-shirt and elegant sparkly tiara on the 16[sup]th[/sup], as it is her birthday. Consider yourselves forewarned.
Either weekend is good for me. I’ll get Amber in here to suggest “tourist-y” things she thinks are cool, as I know nothign about this city (yet).
Well honestly anytime is fine for me, as long as I know about the finalized date before the end of July so that I can take a day off. I cant wait to meet everyone!
Ottadoper checking in… Scott… I promise that it isn’t your tiara that frightens me, or the mutilated super hero, but I am planning on taking that entire week (10 days) to go on my first real vacation in years.
Sorry, all. I won’t be there.
Some may weep, others rejoice.
And jsut because I feel like I should say it, today (11th) was a great birthday! I am now 27 and therefore getting old. Weird.
Anyway, I plan on being in Montreal a few times in the summer. So hopefully some of us can meet then all impromptu-like.
I somehow doubt I could convince my man to come, but if someone’s willing to allow a cute redhead (that’s me!) to tag along, I might be able to make it…maybe.
I just heard a segment on the radio about Mount Royal Cemetary. Apparently, they are having all kinds of events this summer with music and historical tours and whatnot. Wannago! I (heart) cemetaries, so beautiful and mysterious, and full of sad and happy things.
