If you’re attending/exhibiting GenCon, post here with stories, photos, tips, yadda yadda.
This is my first GenCon (and first *Con, for that matter). My wife is the gamer in the family, and I’m helping her man a booth with two of our friends, selling geeky handmade items. (Booth #2732 if anyone wants to swing by and say hi.)
We found $5 all-day parking yesterday at Lucas Oil stadium - not sure how long that will last, though.
The $5/day should remain - parking is cheap here in Indy. Remember - street parking is free on the weekend. Plus, there’s a convention here every weekend - parking supply has increased to meet the demand. Prices stay down because nearly every lot has daily commuters that don’t have a monthly account, so they’d be pissed if it were raised to $10-15 without warning.
I went to the mall for lunch today, and I gotta say - you guys are out in force already. I saw the Ghostbusters, and a bunch of cosplayers, and hundreds more nametags (no costumes). You guys REALLY lucked out on weather. It’s been absolutely unbearable all week long. The storms last night cleared a lot of humidity and heat out.
I’ll be heading up to GenCon in… 12 hours. Yes, I’m driving out at 3 AM because I’m crazy. I’ll be running some 7th sea games on Friday and Saturday mornings, and I’ll also be helping out at the Friday night 7th sea LARP. Beyond that? Not real sure. No particular plans.
And, uhm, Gonzo… I’m not real sure what that video has to do with GenCon?
You lucky dogs! This is the first Gen Con in four years I’ve had to miss- the con is always run really smoothly. Plus, where else can your friends chip in to have Klingons storm into the game you’re playing and take you to a dungeon to be jeered at, all in the name of charity?
fubbleskag, if it’s not sold out, I suggest running through True Dungeon- basically a live action, old school D&D dungeon. One of the most unique and funniest things at Gen Con!
If any of you guys are planning on dropping buy the Indy Press Revolution booth (2339) or wherever they are hawking the Dresden Files RPG books from, tell Ryan Macklin that Tristan says “Hi”.
My girlfriend and I were there from Thursday through Sunday. We do about an equal mix of tabletop RPGs and LARPs. This was our 3rd year going together (and also the 3rd year I’ve been since they moved to Indiana.)
