Dopers, explain you names

I think you is female… almost positive!

But dang, you guys are touchy about your names, eh? :>

Before beer is beer it is wort, and I loves beer. I needed something to go with wort. For some reason Alfred E Neuman saying, " What ? Me worry?" , popped into my head. It made sense to put them together. At the time I was lightly toasted. Damn, that’s a long explanation. I’ve got to go a Paulaner is calling me!

Upper Kumbuckta (West)* wouldn’t fit when I tried to register my name, so it became ‘Kumbuckta’, but then I stuffed something up and couldn’t sign in with it ever again.

So that’s how I became kAmbuckta.

Upper Kumbuckta (West)* is a town out back of Bourke, just near the Black Stump, and not too far from Woop Woop, in case you wondered.

It is also a ‘mythical’ town that kept the viewers of ‘Hey Hey it’s Saturday’* amused for many years. (Vale Ozzie)

***'Hey Hey it’s Saturday was a TV program that was originally named Cartoon Corner, and was broadcast, firstly, early on Saturday mornings (for the kiddies). As time went on (late 70’s - early 80’s) it became a ‘must see’ program for late-night revellers who were rolling home for bacon and eggs and Bundy, because it had taken on a slightly more ‘risque’ tone. The presenters had a type of comedy that was…ahhh…‘cheeky’. It then moved to a Saturday NIGHT timeslot to appease the more conservative folk who determine TV classification slots. Of course, that gave them more leeway with the ‘humour’ that they were dispensing. It became filthier and funnier. Hey Hey finally ceased production about 3 years ago…[sob].

I miss Darryl and Ozzie and Mrs. Mac and The Angel and Dickie Knee and…(oh, excuse me while I go have a nostalgic cry please…)

Does THAT explain where my name comes from??

Stuck In Socorro, Heartsick Over C. H. Made it up at a particularly low point in my life. Come to think of it, I’m still there…

Just don’t ask how to pronounce it.

“Hey, heyyyy, good lookin’,
Whaaaat ya got cookin’?
How’s about cookin’ somethin’ up with meeeeeeeee?!”

I’m fascinated by the Wankel engine (rotary combustion engine) and all it’s applications, and have been for years … a marvel of engineering and innovative thinking. The shape of the rotor housing is usually refered to as an epitrochoid, but peritrochoid is the more correct term for it.

It’s fun to say too … peritrochoid, peritrochoid, peritrochoid, peritrochoid, peritrochoid …

And, yes, in fact, I am an RX-7 geek.

It’s a favorite drink of mine.

Mine is a very old (older than half the posters on this board, it sometimes seems) nickname, bestowed upon me by an online girlfriend back in the pre-WWW, pre-AOL days. As I recall, the original explanation she gave was “Well, you’re about 90% Teddy Bear, but there’s about 10% Grizzly Bear”.

I’ve modified the explanation, over time, to suit the circumstances. For a while, it was “51% Teddy/49% Grizzly. Don’t push it.” That was a take-off on the old T-Shirt slogan. Then it became “51% Teddy/49% Grizzly. Subject to change without notice.” There’ve been other variations, but I won’t bore you with them, except the one I’m currently using…

Elmwood Avenue in Buffalo, New York.

There’s a bunch of pictures I took several years ago here.

Looking for random words for a SDMB name and flicked over a hired copy of Metal Gear Solid 2. Went for the adjective/animal-noun combination.

I was so pissed that rabid_squirrel@hotmail.com was already taken…

I read the book Harriet the Spy about 12 times as a kid, but I thought I’d switch it up a bit so you all don’t think I’m just spying on you for some OTHER message board.

A mixture between my initials and the guy who won the Second Punic War.

Mephistopheles is too difficult to pronounce.

What were my parents thinking . . . ?

NO!

Seems this question comes up about every six months, but what the hell I’ll explain again (for those few who care).

“nothingman” is my favorite Pearl Jam song of all time. I added the capital “N” and “M” to give it sort of a not-quite-super hero theme.

Word.

I used to be Muldoon III and i never liked it, not sure why i picked it in the first place. Slickis just my nickname.

I am Kris…
I like cats better than most people I have had the misfortune to meet…
Had I been a boy I would have been Christopher…

Krisfer the Kat was the name of a Native American magician in a story I was writing…

My name is Brian. I like Star Wars.

Actually, I’ve thought about a change. Can’t come up with anything I like better.

Wow… that’s really cool. I love learning stuff like this.

So far as my name goes: I always name myself after mythological figures and Aesir is the name of the principal Norse gods. Since Aesir by itself is usually taken and I hate using numbers in my user names, I added “-on” to the end to make the name my own.

Well, I mean damn!

Does that ring a bell? (Just kiddin’ with ya’! I love The Hunchback of Notre Dame and I just used the name to convert to the internet.) Been Quasi for a very long time!

Apologies to the hamsters!
