In this picture from my siter’s wedding website, no one can figure out what she’s holding. My sister doesn’t remember what she was doing here. All we know is that it wasn’t the bouquet.
We are open to any and all suggestions, as nobody has any freaking clue what the hell this thing is!
If you ask me, it looks like she’s ready to puke into it. I think it’s some sort of fancy wedding barf bag. My sister and brother-in-law both disagree, but neither can offer a second theory.
A vase was something that was originally brought up, but there were no vases on the tables, and they didn’t open wedding gifts until after they got back from their honeymoon, so how a vase got in there would also be a mystery, if that’s what it is.
Looking at this picture and this picture you can see the entire length of the table - no flowers in vases, no fancy candlesticks. So the vase option has been ruled out. Especially as a gift, cuz they only got 2 crystal vases, and neither look anything like what’s in that picture.
BTW, in the 2nd pic, that’s me turned sideways talking to the lady. I don’t know why we’re holding flowers.
It looks like a purse-like thing to me. But I have no idea about the elephant-nose portion. Maybe fringe? A shadow? Does it appear in any more pictures?
Perhaps the garter? What Ellen refers to as “the elephant-nose portion” might the the garter itself and the “elephant-head(?) portion” near her hands could be a flowery decoration.
She didn’t have a purse that day, it’s not the garter (that was taken off and tossed to the crowd in the middle of the dance floor, my sister didn’t mess with it once it was on her leg), and I doubt it’s a picture frame since they didn’t go through any of their gifts until after the honeymoon. And no, it doesn’t appear in any other pix to give us a hint what it is.
It sure looks like a vase to me, but I’m assured that there wasn’t one on the table, and a vase doesn’t show up in other pictures. All presents they received that day were wrapped, and they didn’t unwrap any of them until returning from the honeymoon.
I hope no one is expecting me to give the definite answer on what this is, cuz I have no idea.
In one of the pictures that you didn’t post, entitled Teresa and Jim, where they are standing at the table, the same objuect seems to be on the table in front of her. What it is, is still anybody’s guess. It kind of resembles the top on the cake to me.
Now I suppose you are wondering how I could see the other pictures.
I assume you saw the other pix by going to the home page from the link, no great mystery there, but we’ve never noticed it in another pic. I still can’t make out if the object in the pic titled Teresa and Jim is the same object in front of her or not. Besides in the pic in the OP, that looks kinda gray for the top of the cake. Although I know they saved the top of the cake and my mom put it in the freezer (something about freezing it, then eating it on the 1st anniversary). Maybe that’s my sister wrapping the cake in Saran wrap. I’ll run that idea by her.
It sort of seems to have a sinister face, whatever it is. Do you know anyone who is likely to give your sister a possessed wedding gift? And was the room really that blue?
I can’t think of anyone who’s into the Dark Arts and giving out evil possessed gifts off the top of my head, but these were mostly my sister’s friends, so she could answer that better than I could.
As for the room being that blue, I think it’s just a trick of the flash, which wasn’t working at very long distances. I don’t remember the room being that blue. Of course, I don’t remember much by the time I was drunk enough to accept my sister’s dare and wear my psycheldic tuxedo jacket.
Teresa and Jim never got around to put up the pix of the reception taken by the professional photographer, which would be able to settle the question of how blue the room was a little better.
My first guess was a vase, but, could it be one of those photo albums that have clear plastic pages, how about the book people sign upon attending the wedding? It kind of appears to be a partly open book and our view is of the top of the book.
