I want to teach with two books I bought in Phnom Penh. I’m not finding them easily from the U.S. If you’re in Thailand, Cambodia, or Australia and are willing, would you mind seeing if you can locate either of these books easily and relatively cheaply? If so, I can either order them directly, or if you’re willing to buy and send them to me, we’ll figure out how I can reimburse you. I’m hoping for 5-10 copies of each but would consider more if the price is significantly lower than what I paid for my copies:
van Bruggen, Diny. (2003). Flowers on the cactus: AIDS and orphan care in Cambodia (English translation, 2005). Printed by Don Bosco Technical School, Phnom Penh, Cambodia. ISBN 90 435 0829 2 (I paid $13 US in the airport)
Neem Meas, & Healy, Joan. (2003). Towards understanding: Cambodian villages beyond war. Sisters of St Joseph, North Sydney, Australia. ISBN 0 9579976 1 2 (I paid $10 US in the airport)
Similarly, if anyone has a source for copies in the U.S. that are at these prices or lower, I’d appreciate ordering information.
Shoshana, I live around the corner from the main convent of the Sisters of Saint Joseph in North Sydney. I’m quite happy to pop in there and ask about copies of the second book. They should presumably be able to help out, or at least give some advice on purchase, if it has been published under their auspices.
I checked the convent’s bookshop this morning Shoshana. Naturally they had run out of copies! However, one of the nuns is checking on availability of other copies for me.
Shoshana, I’ve received a message from the convent bookshop that more copies are now in stock, although I don’t know exactly how many. The cost is AUD$10 each. How many do you want?
Thank you! How about 10 if they have them. If you can put me in touch with them directly, I can pay for books and shipping. If that’s cumbersome, is there a less-cumbersome way for me to pay you?
