Dopers on Jeopardy! THE List

Yes, very nice job, astorian! I like the games where everyone does well. All three of you were in five figures going into Final Jeopardy.

That’s the kind of close match where one or two answers over the course of the game determines who is in first place going into FJ. It was just your bad luck that both the other contestants got it right.

Good work, astorian! We were all on the edges of our seats in this household!

Thanks to all who watched.

For the record, George and (especially) Jody were very nice people. In fact, ALL of the contestants I met were people I’d have liked to have as friends, if I didn’t want to beat them so badly.

I believe George, Jody and I were ABOUT equal in knowledge, so it came down mostly to reflexes. George was MUCH better than I was at timing his responses. I tended to know most answers immediately, but never mastered timing. I was too fast or too slow to ring in in the second round.

That was a great game. You three were very well matched, but George is lightning fast on the button.

BTW, astorian, you look exactly as I’ve always pictured you. You are also the only Jeopardy contestant to cause me and my husband to simultaneously do our Fred Gwynne impressions: “What’s a Ute?”

astorian: Sorry I didn’t have the chance to watch, but tell me how you did – place at the end, and final total – and I’ll add you to the official list.

I finished the game with $23,000… and ended up in last place!

Updating for astorian’s game last Friday. Congrats, astorian!

So, I’m more of a lurker than a doper, but im a long-time lurker so maybe that counts. Anyway, I’m on Jeopardy tonight (3-3-15). I’m the only woman and I’m at the third podium.

Nuveena: You post here, you’re a Doper!

Do me a favor, in case I can’t watch tonight: when your run has ended, post again with your details, and I’ll update the official list.

Welcome to the club!

Long as you’re here, put down that I finished with $23,000

I mean, I can’t deny I finished last- but I want it known I didn’t get crushed!!! I was good, very good. I just had the misfortune of running into two other people who were ALSO very good!

I was on sometime in the late 80s, maybe 1988 or so. I didn’t win, came in second, got a trip to Puerto Vallarta out of it.

Well played. That was an odd Final Jeopardy; seemed more luck than skill to figure it out before the time expired.

If the answer wasn’t so high in the list alphabetically, I wouldn’t have gotten it.

I didn’t make it back home in time to see it-what happened?

As long as you’re updating the list, you can put down I finished with $19,500, but came in second!

Well-played Nuveena, and welcome to the Club!

I watch every episode, but I record and I’m about 3 days behind. I’ll look for you when I get to the 3rd!

That was quite a game Nuveena!

I wonder if the writers had that in mind when they used this clue. My thought process wasn’t nearly as orderly.

"MASSACHUSETTS, no; lots of letters. Ooh, it’ll probably be a short name, better odds. OHIO, no. IDAHO, no, MAINE, no. HAWAII, no. I can’t think of any other short states. ALABAMA, no. Time’s running short. ALASKA, oh, I think so, write it down quick.

For those of us who missed it, what was the answer?

You forgot Iowa and Texas.
