HELP ME!!!

The Northeast has been struck with the flu epidemic. And much to my chagrin, I will be stuck on a crowded, flu infested AIRPLANE Wednesday to go to a convention in Dallas where I will be FACE TO FACE with people all weekend!!! SO:

Not only is it in MY best interests NOT to catch the Syndney or other strains of the flu, but in ALL YOUR INTERESTS since the people I will be talking to . . .ARE FROM AROUND THE COUNTRY!!!
So . … please pass along ANY precautions you might have to help me prevent spreading this epidemic.

Sorry, scientists. Cancelling my flight and my trip arre out of the qurestion. Come up with better ideers.

Help me. Or we all go down . . …

TYPHOID UGLY

Be healthy. Get lots of rest. Make sure your immune system isn’t on low power so to speak because you’re working on 3 hours of sleep and a carton of Marlboro Lights.

Or wear a surgical mask.

“I guess one person can make a difference, although most of the time they probably shouldn’t.”

Don’t go, Tell them your sick.

Face mask, about 50 cents from the hardware store. You can use one of those. flus are airborne. Transmitted in tiny droplets.
Wash your hands before eating. Don’t touch faucets or door handle [use paper].

Flus are 5microns I think. Call the airline ask them if their air filtration system can trap a particle 5 microns in size. Watch as they don’t know the answer.

wash your hands every chance you get. Take a little bottle of that instant hand sanitizer stuff. It’s just alcohol and works pretty good killing germs.

so you found a girl who thinks really deep thoughts. what’s so amazing about really deep thoughts? Tori Amos

I too have always heard it is not so much the air that spreads the germs but your hands.

Best advice keep washing them again and again and again…

And in between washing your hands, keep your hands away from your face, mouth, lips and nose.

When I had the flu a few years ago I had to go to the store for tissues and watched the cashier lick her fingers after talking my bill to make change. Yukkie.

You can buy those little hand wipes in foil, too. When in doubt, wash.

Hand washing is certainly a great start, and I totally agree about NOT touching your eyes, nose, and mouth when otherwise eating. I’ve found myself in the exact same circumstances and usually take a vitamin C tablet just for the hell of it.

Of course, I think vitamins are for the birds in general, but before I offend ever health nut on the board here…let me also tell you there is a great new drug out on the market called Relenza (from Glaxo-Wellcome). If you get the flu, it wipes it out within about two days in most cases. I believe it somehow screws with the protein coat around the virus making it difficult for the virus to reproduce itself. Make friends with a doctor or pharmacist and get some…

Get a shot (it’s not too late, and although I did but got a more uncommon strain anyway) and wsash you hands very often as above. And if you do get one get down and stay down as soon as you can to not prolong it.

Don’t breathe at all, take a portable air tent, completely sealed and sanitized so that you don’t share air with them. Better yet, put yourself a suitcase and go in the cargo hold (be sure to dress warm).

Or you could follow everyone else’s advice here.

Cold viruses come from touching things, flus from the air. Usually, usually.
