If I may, I’d like to start a thread here inquiring as to the whereabouts (if known) of Dopers of some long-standing stature. (If this thread topic is deemed more suitable for IMHO or MPSIMS or wherever, so deem it.) When I began posting here, some four years ago, I “met” all these established Dopers, many of whom have seemingly disappeared.
Maybe they didn’t want to pony up the fee.
Maybe they got banned.
Maybe they changed their usernames.
Maybe I just haven’t noticed them lately
I can think of several more "maybe"s, some of them quite sad. I’d be interested in learning why it is that I no longer see the names of some long-timer Dopers anymore. If you have an answer, or a speculation, please chime in. If you want to inquire about someone, inquire away.
Two examples of Dopers I haven’t recently seen, and don’t know what happened to, are **Michael Ellis ** and Eats_Crayons. I could probably list twenty or thirty others, but that will do for starters.
Or they got married, or had children, and suddenly the online life wasn’t so wonderful.
Or they ran off to Canada to find cheap prescription drugs, and wound up in some backwater locale in the far north where there’s no internet access.
Or they were kidnapped by aliens intent on anal probing.
Or they’ve taken a job as a stud, to keep all the women in the harem satisfied because the Sultan is too old. Or vice versa, in a matriarchical society.

My guess: ME joined upon acceptance to UC, took the summer off after graduation, came back in the fall, and realized: “Holy shit, I don’t have time for this crap, I gotta find a job!”
I’m sure there exist those Dopers who self-destruct, in a virtual sense. The reasons why this happens will vary, but will either have a connection to their real life circumstances or will relate to a situation which occurred on the SD or some other message board.
