If anything, I regret having paid previously…not that this is an awful message board or anything, but there’s no way it’s worth the money when you can post free anyway, as far as I’m concerned.

The ads - meh, I get by. Sometimes they make me chuckle.
It’s probably worth the money to you,** ivylass**, to keep the coveted Charter Member status. The rest of us johnny-come-lately types don’t have anything to lose.
It doesn’t matter to me, ivylass. The ads are the only real difference, and they’re not terribly intrusive. If Search were better for members I’d consider re-upping, but as it is, there’s no point other than ego.
I kind’a miss the location sometimes, but thing is, given that I’ve posted to these boards while living in… uhm… five? different countries, my location isn’t necessarily very helpful.
Not really. I have firefox w/ an adblocker, so it’s really not all that bad.
I just miss the post counts myself. But :shrug: try it for a while, if you dont like it, you can always pony up.
Though if I was a charter member, I’d think about paying just for that status, but it’s just a title.
I didn’t really realize that it had lapsed; I was overseas and not on much so didn’t realize that it was changing. I’d have re-upped maybe to retain the Charter Member tag, but that was before all of the more recent discontent and silliness. I do like that it doesn’t show my ludicrous post count, other than that, location and not being able to post a pic, not sure what the difference would be. I didn’t mind paying for the privilege to post.
I got a renewal notice, of course, but don’t feel any boards are worth paying for if they let you in for free. I never noticed when I reverted to “Guest” because I use Ad Block. As for the post count, I believe that the quality of one’s posts trumps the number of times one has posted.
I let it lapse because I hadn’t come around in months. When I came back around, I wasn’t aware that guest memberships were kosher again and lurked and read for a little while because I just don’t have the money (yeah, I’m broke enough that I can’t afford $15).
When I do have the money, I plan on paying. Not for the perks (nobody PMs me anyway and I have adblocker. And I don’t care one little bit about my post count or location)… just because I like this place and feel kind of guilty not paying. Although now that I think about it, maybe I’ll pay for someone else, instead. Someone who does care about the perks. Then I get it both ways.
The ads annoy me. But not enough to pay $15, apparently.
I don’t miss it. I don’t post enough to make it relevant, although I’ve been around a long time.

I haven’t let my membership lapse (other than after the first year of pay-to-post, when I wasn’t around anyway) but I “lost” my membership privileges due to a tech snafu during the Forgotten Weekend, and it drove me nuts.
I spend more than $15 on a Papa John’s pizza without blinking, and that really only lasts me twenty minutes…
I just got the notice.
Not sure if I have $15 in my paypal account, but plan to add to it shortly.
Didn’t take any steps one way or the other.
So I guess that is one vote for apathetic inertia! 
On edit - I guess either I was required to take some step, or my balance was less than required.
No big deal.
I don’t use Paypal, so that’s a factor for me. So except for location and post count, everything remains the same?

It bothers me enough that I should shell out my $15. I, too, can afford it, I just keep forgetting.
The ads don’t bother me that much, but yesterday morning my daughter saw me reading the SDMB, and commented that those ads where you can make tons of money from Google really work - she saw it on a web site! :eek: :rolleyes: OK, she’s 12 and credulous even by that standard, but now I’m motivated to get rid of the ads. I hope I remember long enough to - Oooh! Shiney!!
