Whooshed again…
I am female. I don’t know if anyone thinks that I am male though just by the name.
ummmmm, gentleman and gentleman are not exactly the same descriptor, so don’t be too insulted.
But I suppose I could have said “big ole hunk of handsome testosterone filled manliness” and I’ll strike gentleman and replace it with the above if you perfer.
Are you sure?
I thought Chastain86 was a girl. I made a comment in a Cafe Society thread about Survivor in which I said I agreed with “her” and he immediately corrected me. I was really embarrassed.
Something about the name ‘Chastain’ just made me think he was a girl.
My user name is correct.
I am female.
Biblio, I think you’re female. Am I right? (It won’t change my admiration of your taste in tv shows, but I can get a better picture of you. :))
Baker is female.
Chique is a GIRL. You naughty chique!
I’m a girl. I married a boy (weirddave). My neice is also a girl (Miss Magic8Ball). She added the MISS part because everyone thought she was a boy.
I get a lot of people thinking I’m male on message boards and e-mail lists, so if you made the same mistake don’t feel bad, you have a lot of company. I think it’s the flying hobby - not only do most folks assume “pilot” means male, most pilots are male. About 20:1 male:female in general aviation, about 200:1 in ultraights, which is where I started.
Fortunately for ya’ll, I don’t get upset about it - most of the time I think it’s amusing.
I don’t hide my gender, but I don’t make a big deal about it unless it’s pertinent to the topic under discussion - can’t imagine the reactions of some of those readers thinking I’m male then finding some of my >cough< rather graphic posts under threads on mestruation or other very female topics.
Most Neo-Pagans guess female based on my username, but among non-Pagans it seems to be 50/50. And the nickname comes from my religion, not my aviation interests. (I’ve been accused of riding them, dontchya know…)
Sometimes I guess wrong about a poster’s gender, but most of the time I just try to avoid the assumptions.
I have heard there has been some confusion about my name from time to time because the mythical gorgon was supposed to be female.
I, however, am named after a male muppet, and as a long-time D&D player, see the gorgon as a animalistic monster instead of some girly thing. Or whatever.
And stuff.
Well, I was thinking more along the lines of “smartass”, but that’ll do. That’ll do.

Your sister?
I thought Ashkicker and Broomstick were male, alright.
Maybe the mental association with Brandy Chastain, the soccer player.
I knew Broomstick was a female pilot, but I had always thought the name came from flying them.
Otto is a gay guy, which may explain some of the confusion.
I wasn’t too confused about NurseCarmen, having actually met a guy named Carmen in the past. And he was a dude you didn’t want to mess with.
Alright let’s just get this all down:

ETF I did not know, Broomstick I was right though, always imagined one of these cool new age mums.
Oh, by the way can you guess what I am?
Shouldn’t be too hard if you’ve read my threads.
I’m fairly sure mine is pretty clear.
I think I must have gotten pizzabrat and monstro mixed up, since they post together often…I though pizza was female and monstro male.
I did think Broomstick was male at first, but it was easy to shake that impression once I found out the truth. It took forever to get rid of my mental image of Scylla, though. I’ve always loved that name, and putting it on a male just didn’t fit. I thought Siege was male at first, too.
I also had some confusion about Aldebaran for a while, since some one said he was a muslim woman. I started out thinking male, then corrected to female, then corrected again.
I thought pizzabrat was a chick and Gaudere was a dude. And I’m surprised that I haven’t been listed yet. I know I’ve had to correct people on my gender more than once.
I was just keeping up appearances!
Damn kids, spoiling my image…
Shoot, you guys had me confused for a while.
I checked. I’m a guy. Or else a female with the worst moustache problem you can imagine.
And a whooooooole lot of 'splaining to do to the Lovely and Talented Mrs.Shodan.
Regards,
The Manly and Masculine Rugged, Beer-drinking, Scratching, Farting,
Shodan
