I would seriously pay money to see a picture of Diogenes. Being that he’s so contentious (and I don’t mean that as an insult) and politically opposite me on various issues, I wind up clashing with him a lot on this board, and he’s one of the Dopers here who I think has the most distinct personality that comes across in his writing. I have a very strong desire to link a face with this voice; I do in all cases. I also really want to see what Der Trihs looks like. I almost wish there was some kind of mandatory requirement that you post a photograph of your face in the profile or something, to be on this board. (I know it couldn’t be enforced - you could always use someone else’s picture - but I think most people would be honest about it.) It drives me crazy to feel like I “know” the posters here, especially the ones who I either wind up arguing with or strongly agreeing with, and yet not have a face to place with their name.
Does anyone else feel this way, or are there people who prefer the anonymity of text based conversations?
I’d like to see pictures of quite a few of our posters; I second the idea of having them in their profiles. It is just too hard to wade through the various photograph threads we’ve had.
Not that anyone was interested but I put my avatar in my profile. I use it on other boards, it was made for me by an online friend using my extremely old High School pic (sent to him by another online friend) and me telling him I looked like Michelle Pfeiffer. Needless to say it looks much better than I do IRL.
I’m positive that Dio has posted a picture of himself because I remember being kind of like “aha!” when I saw it for the first time. I would go looking for it but the search engine is for shit. Keep digging and I’m sure it will come up .
