A batter is not credited with an RBI if a run scores on a double play- I’m wondering if this applies to all circumstances.
Scenario 1: runner on 2nd and 3rd, no outs, batter hits deep fly ball which scores the run from 3rd, but runner on 2nd is doubled up trying to get back to second. RBI?
Scenario 2 (irrelevant high stakes details added for dramatic effect) game 7 world series, bottom of the 9th, 0-0 score. The bases are loaded and Albert Pujols is batting. He hits a grounder to 3rd, diving stop by the 3rd baseman who lands on the bag for 1 out, fires to second for out number 2, before the runner crosses the plate… Second baseman throws to first to attempt to complete the sensational series saving triple play, but Pujols finds a burst of speed and just beats the throw, for one of the most thrilling finishes in world series history! But does he not get an RBI?
