Double trouble. Arg.

I’ve just realised that i’ve got the most annoying habit of saying words twice. It started off a while ago with just ‘good good’ but lately i’ve been expanding on it, particularly at work…
eg “would you put that orange juice in the fridge please?”
me: “yep yep”

and in response to someone talking really fast/me not listening/me not understanding some weird jargon, just yesterday i used the phrase [several times]

“a what what?”

what can i do? i’m afraid it’s starting to spiral out of control. Does anyone else do anything as stupid as this, or am i the only foolish freak out there??? WTF has all this come from…?

  1. stop stop?
  2. yep yep
  3. maybe maybe
  4. dunno dunno

How could anyone resist that kind of setup?

Seriously though, Its probably not not all that unusual. I use the examples you provided as well. You’ll likely eventually grow out of the habit. Or you could take a vow of silence and join a monastary. Whichever works for you you.

Mention it to people around you and ask them to point out when you’re doing it doing it. That’ll stop you double-quick.
