Dougie_monty is an immoral cultist

This is the internet. You can take half an hour to clear your head and think about your responses.

Or a day and a half, if required to really study the information and respond…

Or 202 days, as the case may be.

Ha!

Yes, that’s enough time for most people to cool down.

I am disappointed. I thought that matter was dead and buried with my apology. Apparently you were going to keep it to use against me at an opportune time.

Its the Internet - it never forgets, and it never forgives.

The Internet is one thing. One would expect the people who use it to be another–unless they see fit to abuse it with impunity.

Like it or not - you make some memorable posts - you can see it as ‘abuse’ or you case see it as “maybe I should spend a little time to think on it before responding in a way that might come back to haunt me later”.

So every post should be viewed in a vacuum, where previous posts / statements shouldn’t be allowed to add any weight?

That depends. Is anyone else helping it along?

All men have a history. We are, in many ways, the sum total of all our past interactions and as such it is perfectly legitimate to note what you had been in order to understand what you are now.

Helping it along? So, it’s only okay to bring up previous posts & statements if there is a group consensus? Is the vote taken among the general populace, or is there some sort of committee that decides?

Let them bring up whatever they want, and if it is inappropriate, you can rest assured that other posters will let them know.

You apologized for the “loud bark”, not for digging up the thread nearly a year after the fact. And I still don’t buy your excuse that your modem prevented you from learing about Leck mich im Arsch during all that time.

“But it was FINE when Jack Webb said it! [del]Hell[/del], I mean [del]heck[/del], I mean for Heaven’s Sake, even I laughed!”

OK, I’ll bide my time…

Well, I don’t know if I can still get a letter from AOL attesting that 1) the AOL software couldn’t initialize my modem and 2) I have not gone online with AOL for two months, since the modem finked out.

Slight tangent here: The first few episodes of * Dragnet * in 1967 included bolder language than the later ones; similar to what Elliot Stabler or Leroy Gibbs might say these days. However. NBC apparently stepped in and made Webb tone it down. (From what I heard in episodes from the Fifties that I recall, and the old ones I have on DVDs, they didn’t talk that way then; but then again, neither did anyone else on TV.)

Hint - LET IT GO.

The Wikipedia link was on 11 December and your last post in the thread until you dug it up was on 27 December. You clearly had some way of accessing the Internet during those two weeks. :dubious:

Oh, all right. But my desktop is still unable to go online; long story. I’ve been getting online lately via the smartphone I got.
