drad dog: Fuck you, you smug, douchebag troll

Yeah, I bothered to post in that thread to say that the Bose radio sound can be adjusted if you use a source with an equalizer, but if I had known about drad dog being such a pretentious tit I would have ignored it. Next time, I suppose.

It gets even better.

Colibri just doesn’t understand his edgy, hipster irony.

His versatile, edgy, hipster irony that effortlessly glides from griping to largely ironic?

Good lord. The chuckleheadedness is palpable.

Observation: in side comments he has made about / to me in other threads, he has commented on my “need to control a thread” when what I am really doing is pointing out a bad posting style. With his “I am the alpha and omega of this thread” comment, it seems clear he aspires to “owning” threads and is projecting that onto me. That also explains his “I set the rules and judge whether other posters have succeeded in their arguments” tone.

drad dog, you are still being That Guy™. Stop it. No one owns threads, and no one is the last word in a discussion.

Sheez - you’d think this thread would just stay buried, but no, the doucheyness of said subject keeps percolating back up to the top here, sorta like some reverse lecheate. Or something.
In the vein of a strangely peevish, supercilious Dougy_Monty, el creepo starts skeeving out posters at #66, then threadshits further.

Funny thing is, I had never heard of him and hadn’t seen this thread when I made the mistake of engaging with him, and man was I ever sorry. It was in the thread about different musical keys having different feels to them, and he was a condescending fucktwat and said something to the effect of how I would never have a career in music.

The moment I saw this thread I read through it in its entirety and never stopped laughing the whole time. What a sad, pathetic little man.

Only worth responding to here:

Why, the ability to listen to and appreciate music that’s outside of his comfort zone, idiot. I didn’t mention it, because it’s pretty obvious when you think about it. He says “There ain’t no fucking songs.” No, there are songs, he’s just not able to hear them anymore. Why? I don’t fucking know. He’s probably just not listening.

A “smooth” market vision? What fucking jibberish. The ratio of crap to genius stays relatively stable over time, it’s a pity some people can’t see it, but it’s a common problem.

My cite? People have been complaining about the latest trends in art for fucking ever. Art still keeps moving forward and getting better.

Nope, tired old nonsense only comes in tired, old forms.

I gave him some songs from 2015 that I continue to like. I’m sure he’ll find a way to crap on them, but that’s his problem. I’ve been past caring what other people think of my musical tastes for quite some time now.

Seconding all of this.

I opened up this thread to turn on the porch lights in case WordMan wants to drop by this evening. I see the party’s already started. Good.

I don´t agree. It doesn´t necesssarily get better, just different, which is good (sometimes it doesn´t, and that is bad.). Art (and culture in general) progresses, whether drad dog thinks it´s good or bad matters absolutely not at all.

Well, I like to try to separate whether I like it and whether it’s good. In art, if we’ve given ourselves a new form or tool to express ourselves with more fully, that’s good. After all, there’s nothing stopping you from using the old form or tool if you find it effective.

Okay, I think we´re on the same page.

I was starting with the in-thread comments about him trying to make the thread about himself. I figured scabby might be heading over here and I didn’t want to jump the gun

Hey, the thread got three pages in before it got derailed. I’ll take that!

Aww, I’m that predictable?

So, I’m that predictable…in my defense, he quoted me, and I wasn’t directly responding to him. But yeah, he’s the king of not understanding that <Homer Simpson>The war’s over and the future won! The past never had a chance, man.</Homer Simpson>

I know that one of our first exchanges involved something like “Don’t you wonder why the music was better then?”, with me replying something like “I wouldn’t consider such a preposterous idea.” (naw, I can’t be bothered to find it). He’s littered the board with more of the same nonsense before and since.

Hello, Pit Denizens.
We’ve come to the point in this thread where those reaching page three (or four) will have to throw up (or die of boredom) and peruse another thread here (or in CS). In fairness to those readers, we’ll now take a few seconds before we move on to something more readable.

Thank you for remembering the rule: All artists are overrated because 99% of their output is shit.

Hey, I’ve tried to graciously wind down this thread since, like, post #22!!!

But when you have the douche that keeps on…douching?..this thread has become a safe refuge for those who must bang their heads against the virtual wall of this messageboard.

And yes, it is hard to talk with anyone who says “Art Type X was better before” - it is no different that a Human saying “Everything has been figured out.” I do not support this silly arrogance.

Stay humble, remember the High School Rule (Humans are programmed based on the music they hear in their teens - including each of us, so we have built-in biases), and pay attention to what it out there.

Final thought: Evolution, as in the process Darwin documented, is NOT always about organisms getting “better” relative to what came before them. Darwin documents “Descent with Modification” - i.e., as the environment changes, organisms that can survive do so and then further evolve to adapt to that new setting.

That’s what music does - it adapts to its environment. But there is always music that survives. You may prefer a musical equivalent to a lush tropical setting with colorful birds vs. a frozen tundra, but both support life. So it goes with music.

drad dog - you are still being That Guy, and this is clearly getting to be a long thread. Can you please think about how you seem to make every thread you post in about you and some position you have decided is what everyone should be talking about when NO ONE seems to agree with you?

Yeah, this guy can get himself fucked by a cactus for all I care. What a fucking asshole.

That’s saying something - you’re in Vegas. You’ve seen your share of assholes and cacti.
