Does Origin have a screencap button like Steam has?
This game has some really great looking moments (a lot actually) that I’d like to take a snapshot of but haven’t really figured a good (read easy) way to do that. On Steam hit F12 and that’s it…then asks what to load to the cloud to share. Real simple.
NOTE: I have NOT tried this myself (although seems easy enough). Just sharing. Not sure if I care enough to try myself since I do not really have any problem with the cut scenes. YMMV. If you do try it please let us know how it goes and if it is worth trying.
Missed the edit window. I guess I should explain the potential need for the fix in the previous post to those who may be unaware:
DA:I cutscenes are framerate locked to 30FPS by the developer regardless of the system you are running on. The Devs said they had to do this to deal with synch issues (e.g. lip synching dialogue). I have no idea if that is really the case or an excuse for something else.
Some players claim this shift to 30FPS is very noticeable and jarring so this fix is for them. Personally I don’t notice (well…maybe a little but not fussed about it) but as always YMMV.
36 hours in and it just keeps on hitting me how absolutely massive this game is - not just the land area, but the whole scope of it, the ridiculous amount of dialogue they’ve recorded for it, all the cutscenes and different options you can take. 9 companions and 3 advisors who all comment on what you’ve done so far, offer their own advice, banter with each other and give out quests. The ambient background talk which changes depending how the plot is progressing, the bards who sing and so on and on ad infinitum.
Usually only seen that sort of scope in MMOs. Makes me a bit sad they tried to go that route with SWTOR, I can now sort of see what sort of single player game it might have been.
Though yeah, that Val Royaux or whatever it is called is a bit sad for a city. I guess they didn’t want to spend the resources on making a big city since you can’t add a group of enemies every 50m to one. Or maybe they thought with DA2 there had already been enough walking around cities lately. At least you don’t have to go there much.
Just to clear this up, importing previous characters does NOT set anything in the tapestry, ever. It is a vanity thing so you can see your warden/Hawke in the keep.
There were lots of problems with the PlayerProfile site on the old Bioware forums. I found a fix where I deleted all my wardens from player profile, and opend up Origins and loaded each saved warden. I then changed my inventory and saved the game. Rinse and repeat.
The wardens uploaded to my player profile correctly after that, and imported to the Keep when I got into beta.
I should also add, as I stated above, there was no intention or ability to save your choices using a save game or player profile info. The import to the keep is purely cosmetic and to record achievements. I thought they could have used some of the information to build a world state with major choices but I guess this wasn’t possible.
Hehe word travels fast in this game. Found my first semi-dungeon in the Hinterlands.
The 8 room or so dark-ass ruin in the hills above the Horsefarm. Only took a couple minutes to clear it out and fully explore, but on the way back out refugees had already set up camp in the entry way.
The devs have said they intended you to play a bit in the Hinterlands and move on, coming back later to finish the bigger stuff. nothing wrong with going to Val Royaux as soon as you can, the game starts to open up after that. You get more companions and so on.
30 hours in and I think I’m done for now. The game is beautiful but my computer struggles to run it. The thing that’s driving me crazy though is that when I first started playing, most of the settings defaulted to medium. But when I lower the settings, I don’t seem to get any improvements in framerate. If anything, it’s running slower now on Low settings then it did at medium settings when I started!
I’ve got an i7 quad core 860 @2.80 Ghz which meets the minimum requirements, but not the recommended. I’m worried that I may have overheated something. Friday evening, the smoke alarm went off, and I discovered this morning that the intake filter on my tower fans was choked up. The computer still seems to run fine otherwise though, it’s just Inquisition that’s chugging along.
Anyway, if I did damage something, I’m sure I’ll find out about it soon enough. Otherwise, I’m waiting on a patch to optimize this game a bit more so I can try again.
I did some digging on NewEgg to look up when I purchased the components for my computer and realized I’ve been running this thing for five years with no upgrades to memory, CPU, or GPU. I think I may have just finally found something I can’t run.
You can run something like Core Temp to monitor your heat while playing. There’s other programs as well but I like Core Temp since it displays on my Logitech G15 keyboard’s LCD display.
I have the exact same (i7-860) processor except mine is overclocked to 3.6GHz. I’m have a Radeon 7950 3GB though so my first guess would be your video.
I have a pretty powerful machine but also had to lower my settings. Finally seems to have stopped crashing (so far) but now everyone’s hair looks like plastic.
AMD has the “Gaming Evolved” program and Nvidia has the “Nvidia Experience” (I think). Both will recommend settings appropriate for the GPU you have and in my experience it does a pretty good job.
This made a huge difference. Everything looks so silly when it’s at medium and when you turn it to high suddenly all those plastic or metal wigs turn into realistic hair.
At the war table you have different choices of who to send on a mission. Usually one person does it faster but not by much. I notice in the description that each has a different take on solving that particular problem.
Is there a difference in the end (story-wise) who goes or is it all the same in the end?
