Hm. It’s Dragonball Z. During the Trunks Mini-saga - bridging the gap between Garlic Jr. and the Androids, if memory serves. On the uncut VHS tapes, it’s the last of the three Trunks-face tapes. [The tapes whose sides combine to form an image of Trunks’s face.]
According to various online episode guides, it’s episode 125, “A Driver’s License? ? ? Goku’s New Ordeal…” I’d call it the fourth episode of the Android Saga, since I lump the introduction of Trunks in there.
I’ve never watched Dragonball/DBZ, so forgive the naivety of this question:
Why would anyone write a half-hour cartoon episode about GETTING A DRIVER’S LICENSE???
They usually spend time battling enemies that can easily blow up planets, so I guess the writers felt like a change for one episode.
Because it was hilariously funny. You have these absurdly powerful martial artists with planet cracking abilities and the reflexes of minor gods, and they just have a ridiculously difficult time mastering the simple art of driving.
I think sometimes folks forget DBZ is an action-comedy.
