Draka vs. Nietzscheans

How would this fight go? Or would they decide the other was worthy enough to join together?

…I like context. I don’t know about anybody else… but context or even a hint of what you are talking about would be good.

I’m not really familiar with the Draka, but I do, at least, know the Nietzscheans. Frankly, I think Gerrold’s genetically-engineered Morthans would kick both of their asses.

Only until the Klingons arrived.

Neitzcheans- From the series Andromeda. They are genetically enhanced humans who believe in the writings of the philosopher and that only the fittest should survive. Centuries of constant competition (especially for breeding) have led to faster reflexes, stronger muscles, a longer lifespan, and keener senses. The Nietzcheans also have bone blades growing out of their wrists.
Who are the Draka?

Well, the Nietzscheans have a major edge in tech, much larger population, and far more resources. I don’t know how physically formidable the Draka genetic engineering made them offhand, but I doubt they’re individually any stronger/faster/whatever than the Nietzscheans. Really, the only edge I can see the Draka having is that the Nietzscheans are, well, batshit insane. Seriously, how could a race engineered to be substantially smarter than normal humans be that stupid?

For the record, I want someone to come along and wipe out both sides, along with the books/TV series they appeared in. Is Honor Herrington busy? She could take them all by herself.

Here’s the wiki on the Draka. I’ve never read this series but it does look interesting (and depressing):

I’ll be here rooting for the Nietzscheans. I fucking hate the Draka with at least a couple of megasols worth of vitriol. Maybe it’s just where I’m from.

Plus Tyr was, you know, hot.

Even we straight men know that Tyr Anasazi out of Barbarosa was smokin.

Tyr Anasazi out of Victoria by Barbarosa.

It depends on what version. From what I understand ( the books are too depressing to do more than skim for me ), the “Final Society” version of the Draka are fast enough to be a blur, and tough enough that bullets don’t kill them. They are human only in outward appearance. They also have hand weapons that pump out firepower in the kiloton range and nearly indestructable power armor, interstellar teleport drive, and interdimensional travel.

No, if you want to pit Weber fiction against them, use the 5th Imperium. For that extra crushed-like-insects satisfaction.

The Emergents would clean the floor with the ruins of the Draka and Nietzchean civilizations alike. Actually, they’d Focus the survivors and make them do the clean-up.

Damn, and I thought the war between the Nietzscheans and Wagnerians was rough …

I once had a Wagnerian washing machine. It had a ring cycle.

As I recall, the Draka actually had Nietzsche as one of their citizens, where his philosophy found a receptive audience within his lifetime. Whether or not his life—and thus his career—was extended with their medical aid, he’d likely still have had made at least added some new elements to his work that were lost in the normal timeline, and without the editorial interference of his sister.

The Nietzscheans, however, had to merely make do with the old works of a long-dead prophet.

Thus, the Draka may well have an advantage in powers—[del]political[/del] philisophical powers!*

*A brief but thorough web search yielded no screenshots of the Simpsons episode where Homer hallucinates having “political powers”—literally, a ghostly band of past political leaders wielding clubs, bike chains, etc. This would have made this line acceptably droll. As such, it falls flat. Apologies.

:smack:

Ow.

On two occasions I posed the same question about (genetically unmodified human) Draka vs. Dorsai, but for some reason almost nobody bit.

Not familiar with the Nietzscheans, but Der Trihs is basically correct. The first 3 books deal with the Draka from WWII to the late 90’s, when

they take over the world and enslave the rest of humanity. At that point, they’ve just dabbled in genetic engineering (mostly just creating a super baboon/gorilla to replace their Janissary serf-soldiers), and most of their improvements have come from testing adolescents and preventing the weak from breeding. They’ve got interplanetary travel, but nothing more than that.

In the 4th book and some following short stories, they’ve gotten totally into genetic engineering, and they’ve got mind control, pheremonal control, and they’re superstrong and bulletproof, with genius IQs. They also still have most of normal humanity enslaved.

So assuming the super-Draka, if you’re talking space battles - it sounds like it will come down to technology. If you’re talking about hand to hand - I guess it depends on whether the Nietzscheans bone blades can penetrate the Draka bulletproof skin.

Oh, and there’s no way the Draka would ever consider joining any other group. There’s Draka, serfs, and feral serfs. Nothing else.

BrainGlutton, I was one of the few posters to one of your threads, and I stand my by statement that pre-genetic engineering Draka could beat the Dorsai.

And yeah, the Draka books are really depressing. They’re the only Stirling books I have that I’ve never re-read.

The Culture would own them both, and laugh while doing it. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

More likely reform them via Special Circumstances. If either actually attacked them, it’s quite possible they’d just be ignored. Or worse from their point of view, be regarded as entertainment; “Hey, the Draka are going to attack again today ! Want to watch ?”
