The idea of MMORPG’s (massively multiplayer online role-playing games) is a fantastic one, but unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be much variety in the genre. Most are fantasy based, a few others are sci-fi based - the real life ones require too much real-world investment regaurding the in-game economy (“trade US dollars for game-bucks” No thanks). The only one that sounded interesting, one based on a well-known lisence that mixes sci-fi with Second Life, was one I learned about through the news that it was ending (Star Wars Galaxies). I’m sure I’m not the only one dissatisfied with the MMORPG genre - if you could design a MMORPG, what would yours be about?
Here’s mine:
Nintendo MMORPG - one that melds all of the popular Nintnedo franchises into one online universe. I.E, hop from the Mushroom Kingdom to Hyrule to Zebes to Onett.
The 30’s - explore depression-era America as characters ranging from hobos, to gangsters, to corporate tychoons.
