dreams affecting opinions

my googlefu has not yielded results, so i turn to the dope.

do you know of any studies concluding dreams affect opinions?

when i was in jr high i was talking w a friend about how he dreamt of a girl neither of us ever really thought much about. she wasn’t particularly attractive and had nothing standoutish about her. but after his dream, he couldn’t get over her. he simply had to date her.

i find myself dreaming about things i previously had total ambivalence about–when the dream was positive towards the thing, or when i liked the thing in the dream, i usually wake up wanting or liking the thing.

this is random and weird, but a recent example: i had a dream about a tiger skin rug on my bed. i like faux fur and things like that–but i have always really disliked animal print. but i had a dream about a tiger rug on my bed and now i can’t stop thinking about how much i really want one that.

once i had a dream about a gold-top gibson flying V–kind of a mashup between two popular guitars. i simply had to make it in real life, so i did.

it happens the same as my friend in Jr high, too–people i wasn’t attracted to before, after a pleasant dream about them, become a kind of impasse.

is there a term for this phenomenon? about having no-to-negative opinions on matters, then dreaming about it and suddenly really loving it?
is it common?

I imagine that one interpretation of this would be that some dreams are manifestations of previously unacknowledged unconscious desire. The dreams are only unearthing these desires and bringing them to your conscious attention. So it’s not so much your dreams ‘affecting your opinions’, more your dreams being informed by the hidden recesses of your psyche.
