What are the best threads that you have begun yourself? The categories are Most Successful (as measured by replies); Most Fun, Most Mindless, Most Disturbing, Funniest, and Personal Favorite.
My Most Successful thread by far was The Evil Villains Organization thread, with 227 replies. Not very good, really, some other people’s threads have gone over 400 posts! http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=32739
(The runner up was my SDMB enemies list,http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=18581. Hmmm. I sense a theme among these conspiracy-loving SDMBers.)
The Most Fun thread I’ve been in is the Date With Eve I am currently in the middle of, http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=34763
I have a tie for Most Mindless; that adjective seems to characterize a lot of my threads. Let this one, one of my few from the BBQ Pit, be a lesson to all you amateur post-padders out there. On the other hand, the “!” thread is purely mindless.
Judging by the reactions it got, there can be only one for Most Disturbing: the Sexy Politicians thread.
I guess my Funniest thread was my little Fools! joke, made funny by the confused responses.http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=17913
My absolute favorite threads weren’t posted by me, so I won’t offer anything in that category, but others may want to.
NOTE TO MODERATOR: It proved impossible to use vB code in the format {url=XXXXXXX}YYYYYY{/url} above; I had to use {url}XXXX{/url} for most of the links. The system was arbitrarily ignoring some - but only some - of the {/url} parts of the code. In other words, all the text between the start of one link and the end of the next one (or two) disappeared. I agonized over it for awhile; it was not simply typing errors. I couldn’t see any pattern to it between those that worked and those that didn’t, but it is a very annoying bug.
