Drew Carey calls it a day

This is one of the very few shows I made it a point to watch. Hilarious, and they were willing to try new formats.

But ABC kept moving it, and moving it, and moving it! I had no idea where to start looking for it.

And I never found it again.

But I don’t think I will ever forget one episode - the one where Drew’s overweight girlfriend won’t let him tape them making love, because she cannot believe he finds her beautiful. And they break up.

Or Oswald is involved in a gay relationship, but doesn’t realize it. “Apparently I was dating two guys down in shipping, too.”

Heck, I could do this for hours. I loved that show.

Gotta find it this summer. If f*cking ABC can pick a slot and stick to it.

Regards,
Shodan

Since nobody else has said it and I think it deserves being said:

Christa Miller is really, really, really hot.

This led to my favorite “inside jokes” from the series. After Oswald came to realize the nature of his situation he invites Drew and Lewis to a “great new bar in Lakewood where everyone dresses like cowboys.” Deservedly or not Lakewood has a reputation in the area as a gay enclave. Drew tells Oswald they’ll meet him there and when he leaves Drew says to Lewis that Oswald will have to figure this one out for himself.

I always liked the show but am truly surprised it hadn’t ended years ago.

Maybe I can explain what could have happened - I used to watch this show religiously, even managing to follow it around to new time slots. What killed it for me were all the damn singing episodes and improv episodes. I simply do not like “Whose line” type stuff and those shows turned me off. I also got reeeeeeally tired of the singing ones. I just can’t bring myself to watch any sort of musical whatsoever. Towards the end it seemed every episode had them live, or switch to singing and dancing, or ring a bell after telling one joke and make them continue to improvise jokes using that same theme, or include all the bloopers. I got burned out on all the gimmicks.

But when they were just sitcom episodes, I thought they were hilarious. My favorite was when Drew was mean to a dog that wanted to get his sandwich, so he shoos the dog away, but a few minutes later he gets a visit from the Cops who show him a picture of a dangerous dog that escaped from the pound:

Drew: “Yes, that’s him. He’s not bad is he?”

Cop: “Oh, he’s a bad dog, Mr. Carey. He’s a very, very bad dog.”

Cynthia Watros is no slouch, either!

She is quite yummy. And her character put out.

There have only been two anual TV events I looked forward to.

1.The Simpsons Halloween episode

  1. The Drew Carey April Fool’s Day episode.

And no disrespect to Dooku, but I loved the improv episodes. The last couple years, the regular episodes got dull, but the improv and April Fool’s episodes were still good for a laugh.

I especially liked the one with John Ratzenberger and the Blue Man Group trying to take over the show.

OK, I’m totally confused.

Last night they showed two new episodes. It appears that Drew is dating (Kelly?) and his dad died and he lives with Mimi.

Did I miss a whole bunch of episodes ? Or maybe they showed last night’s stuff out of order ? I thought I had kept up, geeze, it’s on thirty tiomes a week.

Side : Count me in with those who like the show, can’t explain why though.

I loved the show, but I really did stop watching it when ABC started bouncing it around the timeslot like a cheap hooker on a football team.

Last lot of episodes I remember watching is when Drew married Mr. Wick in Vermont to green-card Mr. Wick. I forget how long ago that was to!

Seriously can somebody spoil me and tell me what happened in the last few years?
