Dried fruit for snacking

If you like bananas and have a Trader Joe’s nearby, try their dried ones. They’re really good and actually kind of fun!

Apricots are great. I also like dried apple for the weird texture.

I recently bought a piece of Pan de Higo - it’s a solid compressed block of dried figs flavoured with anise and cinnamon - often with nuts embedded in it - it’s delicious with cheese.

(I recently figured out that for a picnic lunch, I much prefer a simple snack of dried fruit, nuts, cheese and bread or crackers, to sandwiches or anything elaborate)

I love apricots. Can’t stand them dried, though.

Also, dried coconut is fantastic. I’ve been known to pour some in a big bowl with dried pineapple, cherries, mango and cranberries, mix it all up, and snack while binge watching Netflix.

Dried bananas were my secret shame.

They do look like wispy dried dog shit, but taste considerably better than that.

Was it Andy’s, in Morgan Hill?

I like the dried pluots at Andy’s. I also love dried black mission figs and big Medjool dates. Yep, the stuff is high calorie, but at least you’re getting some vitamins and fiber with your high-sugar snack, unlike candy.

Yep. I’m DEFINITELY going back to tour again this summer, and I’m DEFINITELY buying more - they sold us whatever we picked for $6/lb.

My favorites are cranberries, but it’s hard to find good ones. Craisins are too sweet. Apples, sliced thin and dried into chips are great.
