By “raw” I mean uncooked. By “fruit” I mean whatever you consider a fruit as opposed to a vegetable.
If I started a poll at this point I would probably leave out at least a dozen fruits that I know exist, but just don’t consider “popular.”
Name as many as you enjoy eating, not just ones you can name.
If we already did this before just point to the thread and we can be done with it. I remember similar things on breakfast foods, nuts, cheeses (I think), and other such edibles. But I don’t recall the fruit thing.
strawberries
raspberries
black raspberries
wineberries (yes there is a distinct flavor difference between these three varieties of raspberries)
pineapple
watermelon
kiwi
mango
plums
grapes
bing cherries
nectarines
peaches
apples
I can eat bananas, pears, cantaloupe, and clementines if I have to but I don’t enjoy it much because of the textures. And blueberries just kind of taste like dye to me…
I think they’re my faves because they’re the easiest to eat. Blueberries probably win for ease (no waste) but I’ve had sour blueberries more often than sweet ones yet have never run into a banana that wasn’t tasty. Grapes generally are always tasty but sometimes you run into the ones with seeds.
Actually bananas often aren’t very tasty as they’re sold unripe. Same thing for many fruits, I need to put them in the window cill so they can get some sun for a few days so they ripen. But too long and they dry out (bananas) or start going bad (everything). Fruit is rather fussy food. (Interestingly, though, it’s one of the few things we eat alive.)
Some of my favorites are:
nectarines (they’re identical to peaches but more pleasant to eat with skin)
I love love LOVE fresh fruit. There’s no fruit I hate that I’ve tried so far, and only a few that I’m not particularly fond of. I can easily eat pounds of berries/cherries/grapes, or an entire medium sized watermelon (or half a large one) in one sitting.
My favorites:
Oranges (eat one or two almost every day) and similar (tangerines/etc.)
Grapefruit
Watermelon
Cantaloupe
All berries, especially raspberries and blackberries
Cherries
Peaches/plums/nectarines
Mango
Dates
Grapes
Kiwi
Pineapple
Pears
Lychee
Did anyone watch the season premier of Modern Family? There’s a running joke where every plum Mitchell eats is perfect, and there are a bunch of shots of him walking around the house moaning in delight every time he bites into one.
I totally get it. There’s nothing quite like a perfect plum.
I love fruit! It would be very difficult to place them in order of preference. I love:
mango
cantaloupe
banana
pineapple
pears, all varieties
strawberries
blueberries
raspberries
nectarines
grapes, red or green but seedless please
watermelon
apples, not all varieties
star fruit
apricot
plums
peaches
oranges
grapefruit
For the longest time I didn’t think I liked honeydews. Then I discovered that I had never eaten a ripe one.
Once, on a picnic, someone brought some green fruit slices. They were amazingly delicious. I asked what it was – it was honeydew. The problem is that honeydew fruit is always green. Just a little deeper shade of green when it’s ripe.
Now that I think of it, I don’t think I’ve eaten another ripe honeydew since then.
In your opinion. I’d much rather eat an unripe banana than an unripe anything else. But thanks for the attempt at correction of my favorite stuff, anyway.
It would probably be easier for me to list fruit I didn’t like.
I dislike blackberries, and would probably not enjoy durian although I’ve never had it.
Assuming the fruit/berries were fresh picked and not store bought (just one example - I don’t bother with supermarket strawberries because they are tasteless, but ripe fresh-picked are a completely different thing.) And I’ve been disappointed so many times by apples I can’t recall the last time I bought one. Also, I do not like kiwi fruit and their weird little seeds.
What I will buy and cost be damned:
Blueberries
Raspberries
Mangoes
Papayas
Bananas
Clementines
Red grapefruit
Melons of any sort
Nectarines
Cherries
