Dried Morel mushrooms - now what?

I was gifted a jar of little dried morel mushrooms with instructions on the label how to soak in water first. So after I hydrate them - what’s a good way to prepare them? I was thinking sauteed or with scrambled eggs?

Similar, very recent topic here:

And I say again: Beef Stroganov, with lots of garlic and sour cream.

A nice mushroom risotto.

OP, you heard Papa, get busy!

Rehydrate morels in warm water.

Reserve liquid and strain for excellent stock booster.

Make oeuf en cocotte, shirred, or french baked eggs and top with morels some butter and finely chopped herb of choice.

These are all essentially the same preparation and in my opinion are the absolute best way to showcase morels taste.

Can add to soups, stews, stroganoff, anything creamy and savory.

Don’t forget risotto!

I didn’t… :smirk:

Also, sometimes the simplest solutions are the best. I’ve never had dried rehydrated morels, but when I find fresh ones, one of my favorite things to do with them is just lightly salt and cook them, and eat them with a beautiful medium-rare steak. Preferably with asparagus also on the side, another spring crop.

A good steak, morels, asparagus, maybe a baked potato-- that’s one of my all-time meals. Last meal worthy.
