Drive German . . .

And stay alive.

Dad drives too fast.

Geez freakin’ louise! What happened?

No kidding, from the first picture I could barely tell it’s a car!

I’m not judging though, I’ve had my share of accidents (none with other cars or people thank goodness).

What make of car was that? It looks like an '02 Scrapyard.

Oh, I see in your url… an ex-BMW.

Did a utility pole fall across the top?

Dad went off the road at 70mph. The car rolled three times about the longitudinal axis (left to right). And then 2 times about the latitudinal axis (back to front). Happend on April 9, 2007. He woke up - meaning re-gained consciousness for more than a couple minutes at a stretch - three weeks after that on April 29. We’re bringing him home from the nursing home in about two weeks. Yesterday they permanently removed the neck and back brace for the two fractured vertebra; those are knitting back together quite nicely. He’s expected to recover fully. In fact, his most serious problem right now, is a simple broken shoulder - and crappy nursing home food.

Exactly. If there’d been a passenger, they’d be kaput. The seatback of the passenger seat was never found.

The car was a 2001 BMW 325xi. The new car’s going to be a BMW 528xi.

Good grief, friend. So sorry for what your entire family’s been through but his progress healing certainly is good news. I was rather distressed to see how far the collapsed roof had bent the driver’s headrest down. Guess that explains the neck and back.

Just… wow.

Holy moley! I’m glad he’s recovering but I’m thinking he should get something a little less speedy next time. Perhaps a Segway…

Yeah, probably. He’s considering selling the Harley, though. Anybody need a 2006 Ultra Classic with less than 100 miles on the clock?

Holy moley, your dad is one lucky dude. Best wishes for him and your family. Slow down k?!

 Holy crap, dude! I’m glad he lived through it, though I imagine he’s still not feeling too great. Put a governor in the new car or something? Yikes.

I was going to add, if it was a UK Beemer, the driver would seem to have had it, that looks like the head rest for the passenger (UK driver side) seat poking through the sun roof

Whoa! I’m glad dad’s going to be okay!

How’d he leave the road? I’ve wrecked a few cars… mostly at speeds under 30. One got flipped at under 30 MPH: Corkscrewing hill, going down, tapped the brakes at the wrong time on wet leaves.

I’m never buying a car with tires that skinny again. They may save gas, but the damn thing hydroplaned constantly. I remember once I went through an entire intersection with my foot on the brake. (I was going too fast going to it, but only ‘try to beat the yellow’ too fast)

On my Matrix XRS with the good tires and rims, I’ve had an entire tire blow out on me and kept it on the road. It can happen to anyone, mind you.
