Driving Record

Hey Peoples, quick question for all those brains out there. I recently got a job where one of the qualifications was that I needed to have a clean driving record. Well on the good side o’ things, my record is as clean as a babe’s behind. The bad side of things is that one of the reasons I have a clean driving record is because I’ve only been driving for about two or three months!:smack: Now my boss wants me to bring in a copy of my driving record to my first day and I don’t know where I can get it from or if they will even have one made for me yet since it has been such a short period of time that Ive been driving. Any suggestions? Or should I just fess up to the boss that Im a new driver and so therefore have no driving record; clean, dirty or otherwise.

Here in California, you just go to the local DMV, tell them what you want, fill out the request form they will give you, fork over about 5 bucks, and they will print your record out for you on the spot.

No big deal.

My best guess is that you could get your “driving record” from the Department of Motor Vehicles or whatever it’s called in your state. Further, my best guess is that this driving record would not have any indication as to when you got your license, merely how many tickets you have received in the last three years or however far back they go.

Whether you should fess up to your boss about your being a new driver is a different question that basically comes down to whether you think it’s a problem. Is this an important part of your job? Do you feel you are a competent driver?

Assuming you have auto insurance, the ins. company has a complete record of your driving history, including when you were first licensed. I understand that the shorter the time you’'ve been driving, the bigger your premiums are.

If they only ask for a clean driving record, that’s all I’d provide. Best of luck!
